but i guess this helps to define the genre. maybe
handwriting is an indietronica album or whatever, but im
definately not an indietronica artist. i think that will
become apparent with each release

Well here's the review, badly translated by me. Maybe
WATMM's very own Nacmat could do a better job...

An old PC, a microphone that they gave away with a Japanese
language course and a low power amp have been enough for
Canadian Connor Kirby-Long, alias Khonnor, to take pop to
undiscovered lands. Well, that and a precocious wisdom
that's inappropriate for a lad of 17 years. His previous EPs
like "Grandma" and "I, Cactus" showed somebody to watch out
for, but "Handwriting", his debut album, reveals genius.

The first track "Man from Anthill" lays out the pieces, the
emotional white-noise of Fennesz, the dispassionate
passionate melodies of David Sylvian and the romantic angst
of The Smiths or Bright Eyes - "Oh Jesus, won't you hold
me?" you can hear Khonnor implore between beautiful sweeping
digital errors (? glitch - BLECH?) - filtered by an
extreme sensitivity that makes of the epiphany his Holy
Grail (not sure about this, sounds Pitchforky -
BELCH)

From this sublime prologue until the farewell with a
"Tattletalent (Encore)" which converts the fuzz into
commotion, the memorable "Handwriting" sows incandescent
vertiginous strikes at the base of a unique and intense
conception of shoegazer pop, with glitch as an essential
ingredient. Like Junior Boys with acne, like a mash up of
Quigley's debut and "Venice" by Fennesz, his magical pop
feeds off of the interference in order to provide a coherent
sound track to a story, the life of Kirby-Young, of
frustrated love, or incomprehension and introspection.
Marked by bittersweet truth, "Handwriting" must be one of
the most faithful sonic representations ever heard about
that epoch of life in which one is too young to be an adult
and too old to keep acting like a child. If you are still in
that place, this could leave you breathless.

mmmmh maybe Pepito is Indietronica...

"Pepito is the San Francisco-based real life couple of
Havana (Cuba)-born José Márquez and Tijuana (Mexico)-born
Ana Machado."

understand people stressing that the lyrics are about love
and lust and shit. most of them arent even grammatically
correct!
daylight and delights lyrics are:
"when i think that i am saved something happens that makes
me feel otherwise and i cant feel the pain of something
better could kill me"

haha

sounds a bit Trent Reznor-y.

"the memorable "Handwriting" sows incandescent
vertiginous strikes at the base of a unique and intense
conception"

holy pitchforkmedia, Batman!

You know that Gwyneth Paltrow film "Sliding Doors" where, in
a split second, her life goes two ways, well I'm the Trent
Reznor that didn't make teenage angst masturbation
soundtracks and instead went into translation services of
highly dubious veracity.

ha ha! excellent!

although I must ofcourse publicly deny to even knowing of
such a film or even of this Paltrow-person.

although the Reznor-y comment was about the quoted lyric:

"when i think that i am saved something happens that
makes me feel otherwise and i cant feel the pain of
something better could kill me"

sorry.. i'm at work, but here it is

"Handwriting" must be never-heard sonic representation from
the time in life whe you're too young to be an adult and too
old to keep acting like a kid. If you haven't pass through
that, it could leave breathless...

that's what it says...
