I cant stand pop/rock

Actually my girlfriend & I have gotten into Britney of late.
Oh but I won't go into that. I did harbor quite the
appreciation for Ace of Base for awhile, too.

But aside from that, top-40 radio makes me sick sometimes,
but that seems to phase. Nirvana and NIN were on the top of
the same charts a few years ago, and before them it was
other commercially determined and codified bonbons

But many of us seem to concur: The genre doesn't determine
the quality. And that doesn't take into account their
interconnections and interactions. I've grown to really
detest the question, "What kind of music do you listen to?"
Rather than rattling off a list (which I can rarely do on
the spot anyway), I usually just say bossanova, and let 'em
decide whether or not to pursue that, or start a
conversation in a different way.

i've long abandoned MTV since AMP faded away. i've often
wondered what the explanation for the phenomenon of
mainstream was. i guess it's an evolutionary thing or maybe
a human psychological consideration, but who knows if there
is a concrete theory about it.

Ah whatever Much Music {MTV of Canada, but we play more
music and MTV plays more shows} plays mostly crap, but it
does play some good stuff, I dont sit around and watch it
all day, just..... flippin' through channels.

There have been lots of good Top 40 groups or artists.

If you like pop, you should be stabbed with a rusty potato
peeler and thrown out of a window.

Uh uh... thats on a parallel line with being racist. You
cant say something seriously like that and expect me or
anyone else with half a brain to believe it.

Well, corporate interests in the music business certainly
aim at the wants-to-belong-to-___ factor in a potential
consumer. Corporate marketing everywhere does that. That
begins to explain the modern mainstream, anyway.
