This thread reminded me i've still got one (thick, black and
battered to buggery) plectrum from when i started playing. I
feel all warm inside now.

a humbucker at the bridge, but my friend tells me i'm an
idiot. so ... :)

I've got a yamaha pacifica, which is pretty budget
and anonymous i guess but it kind of does the job. I used to
have an old acoustic from the 70s too, before i lent it to
some bastard who proceeded to take it to uni with them. It
was scratched, falling to bits and had fucking nylon strings
of all things, but oh lord did i love it.

I used to play on a crappy acoustic guitar from the '60s
until a few frets started dropping off.

I got so much callous skin on the fingers of my lefthand I
could play drums with them.

and then I switched from nylon to metal strings -
which meant I was doing the
fingers-bleeding-over-guitar-thing in NO time.

The green ones are superb if you happen to be using 10s on a
guitar with a Strat scale length.

Yes! Suffer for your art, so you can play the authentic folk
blues.

Y'know, i'd say it's a grand old feeling, having puffy-soft
fingertips from just getting out of the bath, upon which
attempting to play a newly-strung guitar. Fucking ow.
