Well, the thing is, I love Black Dog, and if it weren't for
Revpersona telling me that certain tracks were by certain
indiviudals rather than the 3 I'd never have known, but
Plaid's watered down, decaffinated approach to music post-DB
is horrifically illustrative of the declining
standards (and I say that quite barefacedly, if such
a thing is possible) of electronic music. Somehow, becuae
they were once part of a legendary group, all their inspid
bollocks should be revered, ... i hate it, why doesn't
someone say to them, look, you were good, try to make a half
decent record instead of releasing 5 shit ones? It's not
THAT hard.

Awesome! I agree and to me it reflects on Warp's standards
when it comes to quality of releases. I mean as a bigger
label there should be a bit more communication between the
label and the artist.

Perhaps a friendly chat over lunch discussing how a
particular album doesnt measure up with the talent that is
contained within the individuals.

I was completely unaware that certain blackdog tracks were
done by individuals. I love this place because i am still
learning stuff! :D

Oooh, plaid, okay.

It's FUCKING DROSS. ALL OF IT. Limp-wristed coffee table
bollocks that should've fallen off the map about, well... it
should never have been on the fucking map in the first
place. Their only redeeming feature is that it's impossible
to remember anything about one of their "tracks". A twatty,
insipid disgrace to the memory of the black dog.

That's the only real diss of a big name I can think of. I
like music.

that won't do, scuppers.

you'll have to be more creative. at least 500 words per
artist.

I had become disillusioned with music made up of washes of
granular ambience after finding out how easy it is to do in
Reaktor and Max/MSP. Then after experimenting some more I
realized that Tim Hecker's music was insanely gorgeous and
my twiddling was not, so I now appreciate him on an artistic
level again.

Tori Amos.

Tori Tori Tori.

Please. No more. Enough is enough.

Let's be clear on this - Amos has never been good. Amos has
always been semi-hysterical wimmins music. Yes, we all like
a bit of wimmins music here and there, but not splattered
all over the place, like Amos does.

Amos yammers. Amos yelps. Amos sounds like Kate Bush but
without even coming close to the Bushmeister.

Whenever Amos sings, we lose.

Ok i am not sure how this will go down...

I really don't understand where the pleasure of listening to
confield or draft 7:30 is...

I mean two good tracks in two albums, what the fuck is that
all about. I really did my time with these albums and they
still don't even come close to tri repetae or incunabula.
What the fuck is wrong with a little melody???

And don't even try to give me the whole you didn't listen
properly shit. I mean come on I guess it just dosen't float
my boat but there are people who write much better
soundscapes.

i just don't understand the pleasure of listening to
something breakdown to an incomprehensible mess. Some people
have a go at boc for being boring, well, at least they know
how to write a fucking melody. Ae used to as well i think.

The other thing i really don't get is all of these bands
having a synth player and trying to be new order. I mean you
don't stand a fucking chance really. In fact the bands that
i am talking about are so un-memorable that i am having
problems remembering their names... Well they really piss me
off.

That's it for now...

good one! i'm not going to dissagree with you on the ae bit
because this is the thread to do it. but.... Almost every
new band has a synth player now trying to hark back to the
glory days of D.I.Y. (Do it yourself, for people that don't
know B&Q), in the good old days when people would say "in
the good old days..." youl'd save your pennies for any
synth, forget this vst has more options etc. hee hee

Aother thing really annoys me about music creaters these
days is that they want a sequencer that practically does
everything for them, what's the point??? I like to really
work on shit from the ground up that is at least half the
fun that i have doing it.

I am really tired of people being so one dimentional and
happy to be told what to like by the nme. I mean those guys
are a bunch talentless and scenetrailing hacks.

I don't know why people think all this retro "ohhhh look at
me, i wear a blazer!" thing comes from. I mean seriously,
why the fuck do people take style over substance. With out
image surely the imagination runs free???

Oh well it fucking beats me...

I read an interview one time............

the drummer for 'kool and the gang' was from liverpool. he
loved music and just wanted to 'rock'. he went to a drum
school and they were telling him off for not playing
polyrhytms correctly. He left the school diss heartened and
played for fun. now he's 48, he has an amazing studio in
spain, he gives free drumming lessons to the kids in porta
calom. I wish I was him.

I am going to Positive from now on, there's three very
simple reasons why I am negative and bitter:

I'm a drunkard
I'm talentless
I have to get drunk to forget I am talentless

Though I hate 8-Bit music though. I mean one album's worht,
ok, nice idea. But don't fucking make out it's a genre you
worhtless shits.

Oh hang on this is a Jivverdicker reference, isn't it?

i love negativity - i especially love it when some piece of
scrotum gets offended when i do not favor the musics he
likes. when someone makes fun of my tastes that is more
offensive than if someone makes fun of some artist who i
like - for instance if someone said "boy, you seem to like
all of the bleeding heart down tempo stuff, why dont you
grow a set of balls and put on some []pusher, you cunt" that
offends me more than this "squarepusher is a talentless
wanker knob end who hasnt made a decent record...ever, he
also like to have his asshole diddled."
