i leave caps on because i am stupid. 1 - radio one playing fermium. alternatives are that leak 1 is real or at least fermium is the version that may appear on untilted with other tracks being different 2 - good. |

I don't know why people are holding on to the belief the first leak is fake. I mean, the notion that Fermium was a fake promo sent by Ae, or even an mp3 from the leak, makes absolutely no sense to me and such an event is really uncommon. They got the promo and played that track; end of. As for the music-unfortunately, while I loved Confield's organism-like shiny dark atmosphere, I hated Draft's unfinished almost "lazy" feel (especially in the absolutely fucking thoughtless structures of tracks.) Perhaps why I don't like this leak, then. |

xceque- do you own what you just showed us? Or are you trying to put 'two and two' together? Because honestly, I still find it difficult to believe you in light of the fact that on the DISC itself in that image, it says Untitled, not unTILTed. This still proves nothing unless you can confirm those tracks came from that disc. |

I've got one here in front of me. I tried to take a photo but it kept coming out blurry and off colour cos I've got a crappy old camera. This one was the best it could manage. And, yes, the disc print says "Untitled", but the paper insert says "Untilted". |

well my greater intuition says then that is indeed "it." However, there's still a part of me that wonders if this is a well-calculated strategy. I know some people are sitting here thinking the same thing (I think). I mean it would be interesting to give the press 'something' and use the visual pun to their advantage. But let's be practical here. So, the lengths are the same as the mp3s circulating around. Have you heard it? Is there any difference? Is it more fuller, more cleaner, are the synths more evident? I ask because these seem to be the major criticisms of the first "leak" AND it seemed Fermium was a bit more polished when played on Radio 1. As a moderator and possessor of promos (hee hee), what's your opinion on all of this? |

As I said, I don't know if this promo is the final thing. There's rumours of fake promos, but he who spread them has since said that those rumours are entirely spurious. But who knows, it might still be true. Maybe we're all being told repeatedly conflicting info to make us go "aaargh! stop it, I'll just wait until the bloody thing is out properly!" etc. That's what I'd do :) The sound of the mp3 leak is pretty much the same as the promo I've got. It seems a little clearer cos it's not mp3, and also perhaps cos I'm playing it through my Hi-Fi directly, not via the PC, so it's louder. ps, I got this second hand. They don't just give me promos you know :) |

Well, the most likely roumor I have heard is that it was released by autechre and warp to take the piss with all the people trading leaked albums on the internet. Lord knows how much autechre love the press, so I would be suprised if they did do that, even though people are going to be writing reviews on the promo copy they got. I don't know. The leak I got didn't sound right. I am eagerly waiting the new album. |

Agreed. There's something about it that just doesn't sit quite right with a couple of the tracks. Maybe it's just me. Fake or not, I do like most of the tracks a lot, so I'm happy anyway. And if the release version is different, I'll be even happier still. |

I just downloaded the leak #1 seeing as though it seems apparent by now that it is the real deal, and I must say it was a surprise. Kind of like a more minimal EP7 and Peel Sesh 2 but with the sounds of Draft. It doesn't instantly strike me like Confield and Draft did because it seems to have pretty much no melodies or Autechrian hallmarks and its just very straight up Ae dancable material. So in conclusion: its the most I've been disappointed by new Ae, because its almost a step backwards or sideways, but on the other hand, some of the tracks are pretty bangin and its probably best appreciated when I'm in a raging VSnares mood. well there you go, its an opinion - i like it because its got a good melody, sometimes ae can make a beautiful melody, for me its one of their best tracks, i would be surprised if this turned out to be some other artist. |
