bola | pae paoe , i totally agree - my least fav

also - squarepusher - 50 cycles, although the last minute is
alright

aphex twin - logon rock witch
autechre - most of incunabula and amber - but its not that i
think those albums are bad, just havent been able to get
into them

nirvana - all apologies
wagon christ - shadows
more to come

come on wagon christ shadows is so catchy and good, even if
the beat is too simple and style-less

very true, but i cant get into it, its too much fluff for
more, its like eating vanilla ice cream, i love the rest of
the tracks on that release though

Shadows is my all-time favorite Wagon Christ track.

Caustic Window - Joyrex J5 (like normal Caustic Window but
with 25% more blandness)

Autechre - All Tomorrow's Linoleum (one great big Francis
Bacon-esque mess, I never gave it a chance)

Aphex Twin - Beetles and Milkman (they add to the image of
Aphex as a jokester, but I rarely want to listen to them)

Boards of Canada - A Is To B As B Is To C (again, really
convoluted nothingness, I never want to re-listen to it
although it does help to create an uneasy flow/feeling to
the latter part of Geogaddi)

There's far to many to mention, but I would say

I agree about Lowride, I love Incunabule but that track sits
there like some sore, proto easy jazz Chill Out grooves vol.
MMC

I agree about Elephant song, and the other charmless piece
of aggro on AB4.

I hate the fact that all the Ventolin b-sides on the CD are
at the wrong speed. Or if that's the right speed, then
they're fucking awfuls.

Whatever track of Drukqs that starts of with some martial
arts style towel whipping noise.

i feel i must come to the defence of elephant song. this
fantastic track is one of aphex twin's best, and can be
mixed into almost anything to create a brand new song! try
s.o.s. by abba.

it just seems so dry to me... the melody isn't very
interesting, and the loop isn't so much pleasant as it is
annoying... i'm not too big on Chiastic Slide in general,
though i must admit that most of it is pretty decent... just
not this song

Amber has one good song. I think it was montreal, but I am
not sure because I only listened to it once and then threw
it out.

Worst ae album after incunabla, and the only other bad
autechre album other than incunabla. Warp should make a box
set called "The two shit autechre albums", or "Thevicratrol
aem-squared aiduo" as it would be pronounced in aespeek, and
it would contain those two albums, and it would be wrapped
in the reviews of every music critic that wrote anything bad
about those two albums.

can you back up your opinion?

For me amber was great because they were very sensitive to
sound, and cared how things blended, were structured, etc.
Later on they replaced that more and more with some weird
abstract appreciation of their own process and cut this out,
unfortunately. There are lots of 'late' autechre tracks
that are just simplistic loops on top of each other.

One thing about the mind is that it is amazing at filling in
details. When they made amber they were trusting intuition
a bunch, and it just worked. Later, more and more they were
being discrete and it was fucking up. I think they
eventually got the hang of it, but some of the albums while
transitioning (lp5 for instance) are just piles of stupid
bullshit.

whats the point of any topic? and you can always talk on a
message board about things that have no real answer - if i
disagree with something someone said it does prove one
thing, that he and i have different tastes + maybe someone
will take something from this thread, maybe they will go
back to some music and discover something - how important
that is, is another matter.....
