I personally think that the "key" to autechre just like any
other artist is that you've got to have MONEY...

no fucking joke... think of all of the music you've
collected... you either buy records... or you buy a computer
with an internet access point to download and learn your
favorite tunes.... you have to buy a vehicle or walk and
spend money to eat and save money to spend it on the things
you want to spend your money on and it's just this great big
giant dinosaur... going into exile... BAH

Why do the 100 billion highly interconnected neurons in our
brain need 60 different kinds of neurotransmitters to carry
out the simple chemical segment of its electro-chemical
transmission process?

Neurons are beautifully organized to carry out their
functions. (For relevant illustrations, see Neuron and
Synaptic Region in the BrainConnection Image Gallery.) The
human arm provides a simple model of the neuron's three
functional parts: the fingers represent the neuron's
multiple dendrites that receive touch information; the hand
represents the neuron's cell body that processes the
information; and the arm represents the (normally single)
axon that transmits touch information along the information
chain to our brain.

Neurotransmitter molecules are synthesized within a neuron.
Their shape and electrical properties determine the nature
of their chemical message. The type and amount of incoming
chemical messages determine whether a neuron will initiate
an outgoing response. The activation of a neuronal message
is akin to an electrical charge that travels from the cell
body to the axon terminal, where it releases
neurotransmitters into the narrow synaptic gap that
separates two neurons. Released neurotransmitters attach to
receptors that are typically located on a dendrite of the
receiving neuron.

Think of deciding to write and mail a letter to a friend.
The postal service transports your letter to your friend's
house where it is placed into the mailbox. Synthesis of
message—transportation of message—reception of message.

Brain messages and human behavior are typically either
excitatory or inhibitory. A brain either receives or doesn't
receive sensory information. It either relays or doesn't
relay the received information. It either does or doesn't
carry out an action. Excitatory neurotransmitters enhance
the transmission of information and inhibitory
neurotransmitters reduce or stop the transmission.

But why does our brain need dozens of different kinds of
neurotransmitters to send what's e

haven't read all the replies but i'm stunned to see how most
peeps that posted on the first two pages are narrow minded
and didn't even try to understand the cs2x's point.

mathematics are a medium that allows the expression of
feelings, whether you are sensitive to it or not. mental
people have emotions too, which they sometimes express.
autechre are among the greatest geniuses of history
(musicwise) whether you get their music or not. is there
anyone who doesn't become sad when listening to 'pir' off
ep7? that's one of the most beautiful tracks of electronic
music, one of the most emotional thing that ever came out of
actual technology, just give it a fair listen. seriously i
cried many times listening to this track, or 'dropp', which
express way more than the funky gothicness of 'arch
carrier'. thank god i'm not that sensitive to their music
anymore cause it's fucking dark, sad and almost hopeless,
for many tracks.

Fucking hell this thread is bollock.

It's just fucking music, and just because YOU like it
doesn't make the producers geniuses. Everyone thinks their
favourite artists are genius, it doesn't make it so. And
just because you really like an album it doesn't necessarily
make that album a generational classic. Also people who
disagree with you aren't necessarily wrong or ignorant.

that's true but we're not talking about liking, we're
talking about understanding. i used to love radiohead
but i never thought they were geniuses.

Understanding is a pretentious way of saying you don't
really like something but listen to it anyway for academic
reasons...which, when it comes to music or art in general,
is fucking shit.

The only thing you need to understand is whether it brings
you pleasure or not.

I am a huge liker of autechres music, but it's not nearly as
technical and complex mathematically driven as some people
like to make out.

words have several meanings and it's not the meaning i
meant. let's say getting, beeing sensitive to.
i was talking emotions, and that's a lot of
italic writing now.

..hm, so you seriously mean that if a person has the money

person has the "key" to understand Ae? ..if the person don't
have the money, then they will never understand? (I'm

you will never understand my humor my friend... even when i
am serious... i am deep down laughing at my own damn self...
even in this binary language of communication zeros and
ones... but this is ok with me

a part of me says either 1) mr. quoth, go back to furnishing
dead animals tombstones or 2) speak clearer with less shit
falling out of your mouth

i must say that you have to have money in order to enjoy
listening to music... obviously if the artist has their name
on your money... you'll obviously go out and buy their shit
no matter what the cost. starvation and depression to name a
few

but to keep it short... like my cock... i must go now

the only thing i want to add to this is to echo those who
have said that mathematics and such are perfectly capable of
imparting emotions... there is no such thing as not
feeling... only different types of feelings... but when you
use this as a jump-off point for describing a lot of this
sort of music as "sad" or whatever, i think you are
cheapening the emotional response, and it doesn't surprise
me that people would disagree... as it stands i don't think
there are really any adjectives one could use to describe
the emotional responses one might have to this sort of
music, and i'm okay with that... and so is everyone else in
the thread who just talks about the importance of enjoying
it for what it is, i suppose...

if i get you right i agree with u. what i like in music is
when it expresses things that seem impossible to be
expressed w/ words. that's the point of having so many forms
of languages. to widen the possibilities of expression.

i think that is why autechre do not use lyrics in their
music... besides the whole point of a "song" is to have
chorus and verses and bridges and other silly "already been
done before" shit that has existed for generations... it is
awesome to see new and conceptual musical pieces start to
take shape and evolve into something human language can not
describe :)

a melting pot of the mind vs the mind of a computer
