Yeah, I've been wondering about Swansong. All Music says
it's their best, but other reviews have said it's shit. I
get what you're saying, LP5 and Heartwork are both very
clean steel polished. Love the drummer. I heard recently
that he had a massive stroke and is in a wheelchair. Suck.

didn't know Ken Owen had a stroke... :/

as for 'Swansong', i think it wasn't that bad as they say...
actually, it was quite good - a more song-strucured album
and the most accessible one they made. but if you remove
Walker's growlish vocals, there is very little grindcore-ish
left, which might have alienated many hardcore fans. but
it's still worth giving a listen i think!

Ok then! Actually it was technically a "massive brain
hemorrhage" that Ken suffered from. Also, I just leared on
the net that Chuck Schulinder from Death died of cancer.
Goddamn.

Hello guys, I saw Suffocation 4 hours ago, it was a
good brutal show, but with a small audience :( maybe because
next weekend Death Angel+Metal Church+Mayhem plays here. I
got some pics of me with the band (with my camera of the
past millenium, sorry I still don't have a digital one),
hope to show you the best one (where I look less dumb) also
one with the girlfriend of Mike Smith ;)

I saw Dying Fetus and Morbid Angel (with David
Vincent on the vocals) a month ago. AWESOME show, always is
nice to remember that actually some humans can play at
inhuman speed.

CARCASS, cool to see finally someone recognize them
in xltronic. Necroticism is absolutely my favorite death
metal album of all the time, always close to my heart. There
is a recent interesting interview with Jeff Walker and Ken
Owen at the Earache site, also the recent "Choice Cuts"
compilation with their 2 Peel Sessions.

It's a tragedy that the original vocalist from
Arcturus was replaced with the vocalist of Spiral
Architect
(amazing prog metal band btw), due to the
negative of the singer of make shows with the band...

mr. Hellhammer... prepare to met Neto again!!

\m/

That's great that you are able to go see these bands live
still. I live in the States, and they don't come around
where I live. I read an interview with Ken Owens in the new
issue of Metal Maniacs magazine. Seeing that Necroticism is
your favorite death metal album, what's your opinion of
Heartwork?

I saw Dillinger Escape Plan Live 2 years ago, they were
incredible, I'm not sure now though, I haven't heard the new
one. I do like Cynic, even though the vocals can be a bit
cheesy. I haven't heard Mastodon's new one yet either, I've
heard good things though.
Out of all the metal acts I probably like Meshuggah the most
now. Also, the sideproject: Fredrik Thordendal's Special
Defects - Sol Niger Within is one my favourite albums of all
time.

I've seen Dillinger Escape Plan twice now. The first time
(about a year ago) they were incredible and the whole floor
just turned into a mass of movement when they played.

The second time I saw them they weren't as good but during
43% Burnt the lead singer jumped into the crowd and landed
on me with the mic in my face and his arm grabbing my
hoodie.

There are TONS of good metal/hardcore shows in FL,
especially Daytona. And I also flew up and attended the
Maryland Deathfest in May and saw some of the big names in
gore/grind/death play for the first time in the US.

"Intelligent and even blatantly melodic...
riff-tastic all the way through!"

5K's (KLASSIK!)
- KERRANG! MAGAZINE

haha, as the sticker on my cd says, but yes, it's a BIG
favorite too (next to Necroticism), the compositions are
very polished... but you know, I miss the medical terms and
it was real fun they got "serious" names to their solos like
"solo: Morbid melody for the deceased with salt to taste"
and "lead: Viscous residue snorting"... I guess I'm the kind
of person who really digs that kind of humor

don't forget also the cover with a sculpture by
H.R. Giger, it was simple but a classy touch

:)

I'm loving this Carcass album ( Heartwork). I bought two
other death metal albums from 1993 last week and this is the
only one that still sounds absolutely contemporary and
fresh. Great album. I'm thinling about picking up Symphony
of Sickness next - anyone heard it or like it?

I finally got a decent payibg job so I have some spare
cash to drop on music. Being currently on a huge metal kick,
I'm thinking about getting some new or old metal albums
tomorrow. Thinking about: Slayer - Reign in Blood
Messhuggah - Destroy, Erase, Improve
Carcass - Symphony of Sickness
Napalm Death - Fear, Emptiness, Despair
Fear Factory - Soul of a New Machine
Etc.

Recommend me some metal. I'll fucking buy it and rock out.
Swear.

i'm not a metal fan, but there are some great stuff in
metal...

i love Opeth (Blackwater Park is one of my favourite albums
ever).

i also heard 'Altered States Of America' by Agoraphobic
Nosebleed: something like 20 minutes long, a 3"CD, for 100
tracks (99 tracks plus a "track 00" before track 01)! and it
sounds good... very powerful stuff... i'm thinking of buying
it, i only have it on mp3 (and mp3 hurts for this album
especially because of the very little gaps in-between the
songs)...

Goddamnit, I quit xlt for a little while and then a huge
metal thread pops up. I love metal.

new Mastodon - they're one of my favorite bands and this is
definitely a departure from "Remission" but I dig it
nonetheless. I'm not sure if I like it quite as much, but
it's still very powerful and one of my top releases of the
year so far

Carcass - I dig 'em but I have to be in a certain mindset to
listen to their earlier stuff. Repulsion's better than
their first two albums anyway, and Carcass said they were
basically ripping off REpulsion

Dillinger - new album sucks compared to Calculating
Infinity. It has all these Faith No More ripoff songs
(Setting fire...) and just bland DEP riffs that would've
sounded awesome on C.I. but now just sound tired

Death "Invididual Thought Patterns" - yes. yes yes yes.

Anyone know this band Crowpath? I've heard good things
about them but only heard a couple of songs. They just put
an album out on Willowtip last summer I think...

Sounds kind of like a heavy AFI at times. The drummer is
