My studio about 6 months ago

Sorry about the site - It is a stupid mess - Watch your
speakers, it plays 30 seconds of techno music every so often
quite loud.

To be honest, studio gear is a drop in the ocean compaired
to what I spend on car repairs, car insurance, MOT's,
petrol, etc...

And with most gear, it's just money in the bank anyway -
It's not like it'll be worth any less when you come to sell
it.

Ok so I haven't been on here in 4years and I returned to
find this vintage thread in my favs from way back when, so I
thought it would be interesting to see peoples current
studios, mainly interested in how the above studios have
evolved (assuming any of the above peeps still use the
board) but obviously, new blood also welcome.

Yep, AKG K271s. They are discontinued but you can still find
them floating around if you want.

They have a neat feature where they only output sound if
they are actually on somebody's head. There's a toggle on
the headband that lifts up when you put the cans on your
head, allowing sound to pass through. When you take them
off, the toggle falls back into place and forbids sound from
being output.

Overall, they have a beautiful midrange and very balanced
frequency response. They're good for studio purposes, but I
would recommend a headphone from Grado or Beyerdynamic if
you want to have something more aurally-exciting, or
Sennheiser for something a bit more neutral.

I have the same pair and can vouch for them. they're really
neutral and can hear any detail. depends on your soundcard,
though.

production quality is mutually inclusive to the entropy of
your equipment - and the shit stained carpet.

all the goods made when they had a 5'x7' space for hoards of
gear ... then they blow up big and can afford a nice home
with clean, neat racks and all sorts of polished nonsense.

then the quality is dropped of a roof to test newtonian
physics.

vlar:z - never vaccum. keep doing wat you're doing

all the goods were made crawling around / flipping back and
forth around on the floor.

a nice chair is nice (shout out to other thread) ... but man
you gotta be down and dirty when you're in the zone. dont
even bother cleaning under your fingernails.

anyone with a polished/shiny/stainfree 303 needs to have
that shit jacked on site
