getting a stagepass n stuff cause I'll be taking pics and
filming and stuff on the festival (for the student
TV-programme in Skövde),

excellent...im sure people here would have tons of questoins
for him, in case you'd need questions :)

im really interested in what kind of music he normally
listens to, and what kind of music (appart from noise) he
likes :)

okay I hope I will remember these questions, as they were
good... but otherwise I'll bump that festival's thread later
on, when we're getting closer (the thread's already created
- the festival's in october)... btw it's called somethink
like "Merzbow in Sweden!!!" or with more !'s or something.
:)

Very cool quote I found in an e-mail [footer] (addressed to
me):

"There is no difference between noise and music in my work.
I have no idea what you term ‘music' and ‘noise', it's
different depending on each person. If noise means
uncomfortable sound, then pop music is noise to me." -
Masami Akita aka Merzbow

noise doesn't mean uncomfortable sound though...

Actually, you're wrong.
from dictionary.com:

noise 1.
1. Sound or a sound that is loud, unpleasant, unexpected, or
undesired.
2. Sound or a sound of any kind: The only noise was the
wind in the pines.

There are other meanings aswell, but merzbow even said "If
noise means uncomfortable sound..." :)

i see :)
yeah i put it wrong...noise isn't unpleasant sound to me -
how's this? :)

well what merzbow meant was that what people think is
"unpleasant sound" is differs between people... I mean
merzbow likes (the genre) noise, but doesn't like popmusic
(which he think sounds unpleasant)...

ok! Now the report for Friday:

Ash 13:30-14:30 (smallest scene)

I'm not into them (only know some of their singles), but a
friend's girlfriend is so me and her went to look at/listen
to them. It was pretty good, and with a big crowd; so we
stood way in the back.

Soulfly 15:00-16:15 (biggest scene)

I only saw part of their show, and I'm not really into them,
but they were good.

3 doors down (second largest scene @ 18:30-19:30)

I only saw the begining of their show cause I didn't want to
miss Four Tet + I wanted to go back to the camp and have
some more alcohol before the concert... From what I
remember, they were ok.

Four Tet (smallest scene @ 19:30-20:30)

One of the highlights of the festival. It wasn't very
melodic (according to other people who saw him) but that was
a good thing I think (cause I would have heard few of the
melodies before anyway).
Although I'd only heard little of his music before I enjoy
the set very much. I was kinda drunk (like during most
concerts) and did the IDM-sign with my hands (that looks
more like 'ODM', if you know what I mean) and the V-sign and
waved four fingers in the air (cause it's four tet).
Four Tet was very shy, he kept looking down on his laptops
and never looked at the crowd. When the set was finished he
almost ran out of the stage. This is the concert where I was
the closest to the stage.

Sahara Hotnights biggest scene @ 22:45-23:45

I didn't care much about this show. It was good, but I am
not into the group really. And peaches was playing at the
same time, and now that I think of it I'd rather have seen
her. A friend of mine told me not to miss SH, and it was a
good show, but I think I'd enjoyed peaches more.

(will continiue next post)

HIM biggest scene @ 01:00-02:15

I don't know why I went to see them. It was pretty good but
I almost fell asleep a couple of times (I was tired +
drunk). I did see their entire show...

mono smallest scene @ 01:30-02:30

... but I wish I hadn't missed so much of monos show! What I
saw was really good, but I only caught like 10 minutes of
it, sadly =/
as I wrote earlier, that's my biggest regret (forgetting
about mono, falling asleep at HIM I didn't really care
about).

ok Final day (saturday:)

Morrisey biggest scene @ 21:30-22:45

I didn't pay too much attention, cause I am not into his
music (though it sounded good) and I was kinda down. Many
journalists claimed his show was among the best (if not
the best).
The thing is the whole day had started shitty with me
feeling really down ; it was raining and I was a hungover
(of course) and I was tired. And then I met up with a
classmate of mine (Xmasmonkey), but I was still feeling
down...

Broder Daniel biggest scene @ 00:00-01:15

... Til I went to Broder Daniels set. Then she (Xmasmonkey)
left and I met some old people who had been to the same
school as I back in highschool. I had a nice talk with them,
until the show started. Then things got crazy, cause we were
in the front where a lot of people jumped and stood really
close to eachother. But I managed to find a (young, but very
nice) girl on the concert, and thus the day was saved.
Anyway the show got quite bad reviews, but I thought it was
ok (although not a highlight - the show itself - on the
festival).

Gus Gus (DJ Set) the dance-tent @ 03:30-05:30

I went to their show at around 04:40 or something. I was
quite tired at the time, but they played quite good music
(though for some reason they didn't beatmix everything - so
they had short breaks quite ofthen, which was a bit awkward,
since it was a DJ set). They did play some nice music, and
looked very tough and "icelandish", but I only stayed til
like 05:10 or so.

Then I went back to our camp and had some breakfast and
watched the sun rise while listening to chillout-music on
our little portable musicmachine.

Gus Gus was the last act on the festival...

I will continiue with the stories (lots of stuff happened on
the camp and in the festival area that's not really related
to the concerts) when I get the photos my friend's gf took.
