You can look at two groups of chimpanzees "at war" (seen it
on the discovery channel) and still wonder about exactly
what's going on. Are they fighting over scarce resources?
Are they fighting over neverending retaliation for previous
fights? Is it genetic in nature? If life is something like
an enormous cellular automata, a brain could never possibly
know what's going on exactly.

territory and power...in general humans see wealth = power.
Which is exactly what this particular 'war' is about. The
US had enough on it's plate after 9/11...but Bush ceased the
opportunity to illegally invade a muslim nation for material
gain. He increased the strength of the enemy after he had
already declared war. The sooner the people of the US get
rid of him the better.

but as long as we have the news in america shifting all
blame elsewhere... the average "patriotic" american, will
vote for bush.

I suppose at the expense of a greedy tyrannic minority? It's
still interesting to me how minorities can obtain so much
power over majorities, like hitler's posse for example. I
guess they simply take advantage of people's desire for
money by paing people to act forcefully on their behalf (an
army)... plus having the money for advanced weapons. Money
equals power... the scientists should get all the money.
They tend to know enough to bypass their innate selfishness.
This world could be a fucking eutopia nearly. Eh, maybe not.
Some serious painless human world population reducing method
would be needed before a grand way of life could be
established though. We could start by killing all the jews
for example. They're not real people so it's not unethical
to kill them.

the problem is that smart people, realize what a shitty job
president is, and so the people that run, are power hungry
idiots.

charismatic leaders and knowledge of how to use rhetoric to
your advantage is very powerful. throw some religion in
there for good measure. and fabricate some kind of common
enemy to focus your people's frustration and anger.

produce a few positive results and we're hooked. humans have
a streak of teh herd mentality a mile wide.

Maybe wealth really is power, like nothing else, a direct
measure of it. If you have a little bit of money you only
have the "power" to buy a cheap car and apartment. If you
have a lot of money you have the "power" to buy political
elections (if that's really how it works) a boat, a plane,
an army... Maybe the current problem is it's too easy for
morons to get lots of power/money. What could bill gates do
if he got really really pissed? Could he buy an army and
fuck shit up? Maybe find some other billionaire allies and
join forces? heh.

which really baffles me when it comes to dubya, cause he's
neither charismatic nor does he seem to posess much

brother in the right place at the right time goes a long way
too.

ha ha, it's quite a simple problem at the core of all this
political insanity then. Scholars/scientists should devise
an intelligent way to overwrite the system and start taking
control by force as a group somehow, causing the least pain
possible.

If people want to know the true nature of governments/
politics/ the us/ etc. they should probably read history
about old wars such as ww2 etc instead of the current one,
given that old wars have been dissected by scholars and the
current one is filled with politically biased information.
Not that I've read much at all on the subject myself.
"military science" is interesting from the small bit I've
read. It's an intelligent arms race... well would be
intelligent if it were applied to something fun like a
videogame instead of killing... ok, even then it would be
unintelligent...

actually saved the world.

ha ha, I truly might. I have a fucked up mind extremely
narrow in subjects of knowledge. I've read a hell of a lot
about things of long time spans like evolution/ biology but
am very lacking in human politics/culture. Plus I have some
sort of mind plague I think. I think I might be different
than other people somehow, but you can only expect odd
individuals with odd mutations in a species that has nearly
stopped natural selection. Unless my mind plague was caused
or half caused by culture. But I think modern culture is
certainly ill enough to produce some oddities.

You can be secretary of sushi, but we'll never get into
power if we use the current voting method. Plus if hamanity
really tried to give the most... ethical unselfish learned
individuals power, I sure as hell wouldn't qualify.

1. do not trust news you read.
2. government?
3. don't trust media, they need slaves.
4. use internet only on purpose
5. There is a reason for war far beoyond our comprehension
if we ignore some obvious things such as America not wanting
to use its natural resources.

War is affecting me too, since I am not quite a follower of
mainstream. For example I am sitting here on Sat. night not
having anyone to go anywhere with, since most places play
disco.

Well, see
Disco was a resemblance of murderers in Serbia. People who
listened stuff like Nirvana (before kurt's death) were the
opposition. Here, Disco is everyone while good rock is for
people who are dirt of the planet. I was hoping for several
years that IDM will be my sactuary, a neutral ground. That
is why I was around for several years. Observing people and
learning them.

I learned a lot.
It makes me even more lonely, but at least I can cope with
it knowing certain things....

Discriminate whomever you want and you won't go wrong.
Discrimination is like a horoscope.

well rap seems to be a genre that is social, and aggresive
in nature which is fitting since it has african origins, I
suppose, and that continent is filled with furious ruthless
run away natural selection to produce aggressive animals.
You're supposed to play it loud in your car to intimidate
other people and stuff. rappers diss other rappers etc.
"idm" a term that I'm hoping is to be replaced (the term is
used less frequently) is much more about introverted
unpolitical aesthetics it seems. There is a subculture but
I'm not part of it aside from this messageboard.

Don't worry about it. The vast majority of "new" has little
to no measurable impact on your reality.

What is the total result of the war in iraq for you? Petrol
is a few cents more. Whoop de doo.

you could still have an interest in the rest of the world
that goes beyond just how it directly affects how much money
you'll have to spend.

to me it's pretty cynical to think just about how it affects
"your reality".

What's the point in letting things upset you (which is all
it achieves in many cases) if you have no control over it?

It's not just money I was talking about and it's rather base
of you to assume that I was. September 11th = fewer
liberities increased security (planned introduction of ID
cards in the UK).

Tell me honestly, what do you "get" out of reading
about/seeing the plight of people abroad? Unless it affects
you enough to give either time or money towards the issue
(volunteering for aid agencies, donating money to
refugee/war charities) it does nothing but get you down.

(it was just as base of me to assume that as it was of you
to give that example.)

on your question what I "get" out of it - it's a geniune
interest in what is happening in the world that I live in.
not everybody gets depressed by reading newspapers and
watching the news.

for one thing, it gives me the feeling that I have some idea
of what's happening in the world. so when something big
happens that does come close to my reality - for example,
terrorist attacks like the one in Spain, I do actually have
some inkling how things got this far, where this possibly
comes from, thus not having a kneejerk-reaction, as a lot of
people will have because they're scared and ignorant (a
nasty combination).

it's never wrong to keep yourself informed, I think.

the way we affect what's going on is by being
informed, talking about it with people, and making our
opinions known. i think public opinion certainly matters.
maybe it doesn't produce immediate results, but it most
definately sways government's decisions.

and, the ultimate way we can have influence is with our
vote. how do you plan to make an intelligent decision on
who makes the actual policies that your gov'ts sets forth if
you're not paying attention?
