I'd like to see Survivour by Chuck Palanhuick made into a film. The whole book had a very cinematic feel/flow to it and I think it would work very well.
I'd also like to see a film of the DC Comics character Green Arrow (but from the late 80s period when it was still Oliver Queen, not his son). It should be dark and realistic, like the first Batman film (as opposed to the overblown comic stylings of the later films). It's really the ideal comic for a film, the story lines are some of the most realistic and well written and his relationship with The Black Canary would probably allow them to make a film that would appeal to females with no interest in comics as well.

I would do a Four Rooms type thing and have a different director do each book. My list would be as follows:
Ron Howard Joel Schumaker Penny Marshall Ingmar Bergman
My cast would be: Susan B. Anthony as Cujo

Seriously though that would be a tough one. Kubrick would be good to direct but he has passed on. Burton might be able to pull it off, or Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Clint Eastwood would be the perfect Roland in his day, although I am not sure who would be good now.

if we could somehow mix peter jackson and david lynch into one being, then wed have a good director for dark tower.
and eastwood IS who roland is, if you think about it.
where do you think king got his vision of roland? eastwoods anti-hero in westerns.

Lynch might be able to pull it off. Dune was earlier in his career, but this is also an adaptation of a somewhat sci-fi/fantasy novel. In any case The Dark Tower done like Dune would not be pretty. That is why I thought of Jeunet, ala City of Lost Children. Fincher might also not be a bad canidate, thinking specifically of Alien 3.

you gotta remember... youre on book 2.
it gets different.
theres some really actiony scenes that i just couldnt see jeunet pulling off.
maybe he could, i dont know.
and fincher seems a bit dry to pull off the fantasy aspect.

What about Burton? He could really make the sets work, but maybe he couldn't get the gritty aspect nailed down. Maybe Burton and Martin Scorsese could co-direct heh.

so eddie the junky as you know him now becomes someone different, and the actor would have to be able to do both convincingly (hence penn)
