"half of it is treatments of tracks that appear on untilted (fermium, lcc, pro radii all appear in the set in some form), it''s just formatted as a live set rather than a studio album. "
yeah but the treatment is so drastically different that they sound like different songs. I have never heard anyone say "yeah its just the album but arranged differently" everyone i have played the untilted liveset for thinks its amazing and much superior to the album.

This sucks. My (crappy) turntable won't play P.:Ntil without jumping, and it's not because of a scratch or dust or anything like that, I think it's just the pressing! There's no anti-skating control on it either. Bugger.

Well I think it's just the album but arranged differently. But yeah, in a much superior way, to get down and boogie.

yes. i think that glasgow live set recording from the untilted tour somehow sounds alot... "fuller" than the album. maybe it's just the pads being more upfront or the bass featuring more... bass... or something. can't really put my finger on it, but in my guts it's most evident. i remember reading posts here like "ooh now on my desktop speakers untilted finally sounds great", "no wait, now with the speakers in my car, THAT'S how it's supposed to sound... i guess" etc shortly after the album came out ... i guess all the discussion around it speaks for itself.
anyway... draft... IV VV IV VV VIII alone makes this a masterwork to me. that one has an almost "cineastic" quality on it's own. to me the whole texture/atmosphere as well as the progression/structure feel totally logic/coherent in a downright "narrative" way like in no other autechre track i know. it's also pretty fucking scary. overall i also like the sound design alot on this album. to me it feels very intimate and organic, sometimes surprisingly "concrète" ("woody" sounds in xylin room etc). also alot of human touch/ emotion shining through here/there reminding me of "ye olde days" albeit only in very fragile moments, like the endings of the aforementioned xr or p.:ntil (maybe my second favourite... i often can't get that intro groove out of my head for hours). and then there's v-proc, that merciless juggernaut of a hip hop track. i love the use of reverb in that one and how it seems to constantly shift perspectives in the beginning and blaahblahblah... ok now before i go totally fanboi: i just love this album. mainly for it's versatility and it's strong and absorbing atmosphere.

Yes! IV VV IV VV VIII is easily the best track on the album, a masterpiece.
