In all seriousness, a lot of crashes could be avoided if
people learnt (and practiced) to how to control skids and to
emergency stop more quickly. If it's second nature to you,
you'll be able to respond more quickly. I was reading an
interview with some senior highway patrol police officer and
he estimated 80% of motorcylce accidents could be avoided if
people practiced controlling skids and breaking hard.

Going out to empty stretches of country lane, where there
are grass banks and hedges on either side and plenty of
distance to see there are no cars coming the other way is
ideal.

Haha, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the
topic too. Lameists.

Not much snow here, but the temperature is doing the
limbo... getting lower and lower. Snow used to be fun... now
it's just a pain in the butt with shoveling and driving and
whatnot.
