I would like to hear some of dobbin's music.
I'll probably have to buy him all three series of "The Brittas Empire" on dvd, first.
and I think I hurt him, NAY disappointed him deeply when I said I didn't really like that programme.

I think the tough part is that trax take time to appreciate. The bad part is that one probably can listen to shitloads of new ones in a day. That said usually what grabs me is the melody in a track. The beats could be a real pile of shit but it wouldn't matter as long as the melody is strong and catchy. I do feel trax take time to appreciate and often I can't really give a strong enough view 'cause one listen doesn't really give something credit.

as i was reading about hyakusen being underrated, my wife (not aware of what i was reading) starting whistling his track "bombing nibbles" out of the blue. i love that track, robot duck quacks and all.
i don't think i'm underrated because it seems that very few people actually take the time to listen, so i'm infrequently rated. then again, maybe people don't listen because i'm poorly rated.
i prefer to give constructive comment, but admittedly sometimes if i don't like a track i'd rather not comment at all.
i think nobsmuggler (hummer) might be underrated, he's got three tracks on my "xltronic best of" compilation but doesn't get mentioned by many people.

the fact that no one mentioned fat kaimo in this thread speaks volumes. is ambient work under the name hei is masterful. he's one of the few artists here i see finding a lot of success in the near future.

but i DON'T love it, and clearly i'm talking about success in the eyes of others, ie: large scale recognition. yes, we can all be the best bedroom musicians in our heads, but to actually make a significant number of people feel something is truly special.
THAT is the kind of success in store for heikki.

I do like fatkaimo's stuff quite a lot actually, and I think he is underestimated on the board quite a lot. He makes some amazing tracks.

i think obscure (_user) deserves a mention... his tracks seem to be so special, a very nice blend of haunting ambience and catchy beats. actually, a couple of his tracks are some of the best ambient stuff i've heard at all.
