I've been asked by a mod to change an avatar before, and also had one taken off - the fact that Reflex's is still around means the webmaster's plainly don't care. I don't either, it's just another image as far as I'm concerned. Sure it was an horrific incident, but having the pic as an avatar isn't necessarily in bad taste. Bad taste was that comedy sketch I saw which set the attacks to music, man alive that was funny... |

I dont think anybody would have complained if the avatar showed a pic of bagdad destroyed. on the other hand.... would the mods allow a nazi avatar? this is a complicated subject indeed. personally reflex avatar doesnt bother me even though I feel respect for the victims and their relatives |

i think people most certainly would take offense if someone had an avatar depicting a blown up building in bagdad, and expressed the reason they had it was because the iraqi people needed to realize that bad things happen, and that most iraqis were morons, etc... it would be hard for me to care less about what someone on this board chooses for an avatar. it was the attitude behind it that i thought was naive. seems to me reflex was trying to stir shit... which is exactly what he was able to do. i don't mind debates, and differing viewpoints. i'd say that's probably why most of us come here. the only reason i said anything in that other thread was because i wasn't seeing reflex make a point, just re-expressing his feelings about the people who disagreed with his avvy, and americans in general. which is fine, but it's no exchange of ideas... just elementry school name calling. |

i would understand if the avatar was of dead bodies, but its only a plane going into a building, you cant see the death or feel sorry for a building...buildings being blown up are funny and that is what the avatatr is of. if it reminds you of the people that died a few seconds later then thats not reflex's fault. |

Think of it this way. If reflex happened to be american and said "i'm using it to pay homage" no one would care. Why view this picture as bad taste? Those people died. But they didn't die in vein. It alerted our country that people hate us. So we steped up and created a homeland defense department. Think of all the terrorist attacks we prevented since then. There are a lot. |
