"?" is a nice track. and this doesn't even come close to
what aphex does. overall it's ok though. but not best album
of the year or anything or better then aphex.
I'm just giving my oppinion.

some of the songs are pretty damn good, but i think calling
it the best album of the year is to grossly over-rate it.
but opinions are not bound by any tangible boundries i
suppose...

venetian snares - chocolate wheelchair
aphex twin - smojphace
Plaid - spokes
telefon tel aviv - map of what is effortless (not that good,
but still better then dirqual)

don't you always say vsnares is overrated? well i can tell
you that dirqual is overrated. they are just 2 minute
"tracks" with idm tricks in it. thats it. and it's just to
aphex wannabee-ish.
IT IS NOT A BAD ALBUM. but comparing it to aphex is just
giving it to much credit.
I have respect for dirqual as a music maker.

Smojphace??? please....come on be serious...

Chocolate Wheelchair possibly up there as well, I don't like
it as much as Dirquals efforts but that is more down to
taste. Spokes was OK although I have stopped listening to
it now.

The only way I judge an album is by how much time I spend
listening to it. Dirquals has got the most ear time, that's
all.

Funny how you can call Dirqual overrated though when you
have listed Smojphace as better.

the end

dude, run the place red kicks the whole dirqual album ass.
and as for the noise tracks...I don't care those suck.
durqual is better then the aphex noise tracks :D

haha :P

Personally I preferred the noise tracks to run the place
red, which sounded like a boring, low impact, remix exercise
for some sales & publicity for the far superior Bug album.

Was Pressure released this year? If so that would be one of
my favourites too.

ok, i've listened to about half of it and so far it's
fucking spot on, even if the rest of the tracks are so so,
it's still quality

these are my favorites of 2003:

Ween-Quebec
Outkast - speakerboxx/the love below
Autechre - Draft 7.30
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Lost in Translation soundtrack

but really, the "album" i've been listening to the most
obsessively is the Best of BoC mix cd i made.

right, i skimmed through the rest of the tracks (naughty i
know). sounds to me like he's taken elements of everything
thats sounded good in the last 4 years (probly
sub-conciously) and come out with this killer album, i
personally can hear just about everyone thats good in
electronic music in there, but it's his own, not just
copied. i agree with ecnadniarb

This is an excellent album. I have been listening for a
while now and all I can say is that Dirqual is a great
producer, with a very vivid imagination. Those who claim he
is an Aphex copyist need to open their ears and quit being
so cynical.

When I said name a better album I knew there wouldbe people
who preferred other albums to the Dirqual one...all I was
trying to get across is that this is a free album by an
unsigned(?) artist and it is difficult to come up with many
better releases throughout the year.

"i'll see if i can copy it at my parents, then i'll be

:-D
Sweet! That would be super! Really.
I'd be very very thankful.

"you dont have adsl than?"

Actually i've got a pretty good connection, but i haven't
got a cd-burner. I can't properly listen to an album behind
the computer. Well I mean I can hear the music, but
not really enjoy it. I wanna listen to it in my room and on
my discman and stuff :-) My pc-speaker is crap. But it's
also just the atmosphere i suppose. I can't relax here and
really get into the music.

"are you going to the reflex party?"

Hm... no... probably not i think, sorry.

Har har, i love the christmashat over Mr.Crabs' eyes :-p
