Hmmm.... have you tried the program Fleetmouse mentioned above, or AVG?
by the way, good news! i was able to delete the viruses after all! turns out one was only visible through WinRAR in my Temp. Internet Files, and the others, which were in my highly guarded _RESTORE folder as .CPY files, I was able to delete by simply disabling System Restore, then restoring it.
Boom! No more virus. Plus my net connection is back up to par! Turns out I had get rid of the initialization string I was using that disabled the v90 modem program.
w00t! :D

Well done!! Now that you've got rid of the buggers, DON'T GET INFECTED AGAIN!!!
BTW, have you lost any data or are there any permanent damages done due to the virues?

doesn't appear to be any damage - everything is running smoothly and my internet connection is back up to the average speed it was before (46k is a big difference to 33k) so I'm VERY happy.
btw, thanks for your help. i plan to keep my AVG up at ALL times.
