No. Because:
Greatest hits implies they would have at least 2 hit songs.
A hit song would probably be defined as a chart hit or a
song which sold sufficiently large quantities to the public
to merit the title of a hit.
Although AE are popular with IDM fans, it is still a fairly
small market, with little chance of an AE song in the pop
charts.

However a compilation of a different name would probably not
come out, since compared to some other artists, ae dont have
large amounts of hard to get songs, a la afx. the afx remix
LP was kinda like a greatest hits, only it was greatest
rare(ish) remixes.
Ae could do one, but who would buy it if 99% of the songs
were not rare and most fans would probably have anyway?

dave_g i find it laughable that you took that even a little
bit seriously, and even more laughable that you wrote about
9million words in response

I find it laughable that im as bored as I am. why is it that
as soon as you dial up to the internet all those ideas and
plans of what you were going to do vanish? and the todo list
which would take a couple of hours turns into 404s?

horsefactory, that is one of the best responses ever, its
lovely to see someone who doesnt shoot you down for posting,
but does it in a nice way! :)

I'd love to hear every track ae's ever made, but I'm happy
as long as they release something every year!

I always like looking forward to their next release, and I'm
not sure if I'd be twice as happy with a doublealbum...

I'd be really depressed if autechre should split up or stop
making music... they're the only one's you can really trust
these days!

im wondering wether to make a biggest ae hits compilations
for people to promote them: then they wouldnt like all the
other tracks when they buy the album, but just skip to those
easy listening tracks..

no, I don't really like double albums... I'd rather they
release two totally separate albums within a close time
frame, like a month or something... double albums are
usually too inconsistent... I'd rather they finish one album
how they like it, and then put the finishing touches on the
other songs and release that in a month or so... so it's the
same amount of music, just not release as one package... I
find one cd worth of music at about an hour long is my ideal
length for sitting down and listening... anything over that
is pushing it for me... unless it's REAL good...
