damn, I've watched the TV-series, but still haven't seen the
movie.
It's cheap to (DVD), so maybe I should buy it. I do want the
first season to.
Lynch is the man.

Lynch's movies are great as long as one doesn't make the
mistake of thinking that he is glorifying the darkness
portrayed in his movies, because I really think it is meant
to be commentary rather than glorification. If one is
mature enough to watch them in that light, that is great,
although when I first got into Lynch I thought of it more as
something weird and messed up to watch while I was on drugs.
For that reason I won't recommend his movies to everyone,
but for someone who is mature and capable of discernment
they are wonderful films.

dune is the only film of his that i dont like, no one
mentioned the straight story, thats a great more obviously
straight forward film, but excellent nonetheless, whats with
people saying they just rented eraserhead? isnt it banned
everywhere? ive never seen it in any video store ever in the
usa that ive been to. i still need to pick up the dvd of
that and the short films.

also, anyone own the lumiere dvd? i saw it used for $10 and
was wondering if its worth since theres like 80 short films
on it total.

I liked them all, bar Blue Velvet (I think it COULD have

been great, but truely piss- poor acting by the lead
character and some really dodgey script put me off)

Ah haha hahha haa haaa haaa

I pity the fool. I do.

Perhaps FLUX, you should read over what I said AFTERWARDS
instead of picking on my initial mistake.

On a side note: Why the hell is Eraserhead an 18, or banned?
I mean, it's dark and weird, but there is hardly any sex, no
swearing, no "violence" as such...hmm..

I caught "The Elephant Man" the other night too.. I really
liked it, I thought there was some great cinematography of
industry accompanied by some great dark atmospheric sounds.
(was Badalamenti responsibe for that score like many other
Lynch projects?)

I think so, but I've also heard Lynch has some involvement
in the soundtracks of his films too (especially his earlier
ones)

he did an album with john neff, similar style to the songs
he wrote for the mulholland drive soundtrack and totally
different from badalamenti - didnt he write a lot of julee
cruise's lyrics too??

he's done a lot of collaboration on the films he's directed
- kinda like Johnny Carpenter.

i doubt eraserhead is banned, maybe in the uk, where they
banned clockwork orange.
i think it's just too independant looking for videostores

neither of those films are banned in the UK - eraserhead
never was, and clockwork orange was retired by the director.

no, it's not Badalamenti. Badalamenti only entered first on
Blue Velvet.

the score for The Elephant Man is done by John Morris and is
excellent.

"didnt he write a lot of julee
cruise's lyrics too??"

Lynch wrote all of Cruise's lyrics for her two albums
Floating Into The Night and The Voice of Love, while
Badalamenti did all the music.

She was just a puppet ;)

a puppet with a beautiful voice - I have the first one -
haven't heard 'the voice of love' though.

The first one is definitely the best of the two... still,
the second one is nice. Similar vibe.
