In my top ten fave bands of all time...I love all their
work...from one EP before 'Isn't Anything' to Loveless and
the two EPs accompanying them...no one ever created such a
melodious racket before. That guitar sound has got to be THE
most EROTIC sound EVER.

They have been planning on arelease for ages now...but in
the meantime...all we are Kevin's work with Primal
Scream...Just listen to MBV Arkestra from Primal Scream's
XTRMNTR. Kevin weaving sheets of blistering white noise over
a jazzy trumpet sample and slicing the whole thing to bits
and putting it back together...massive.

MBV, how I love thee.

Maude Lebowski: Does the female form make you
uncomfortable, Mr. Lebowski?

The Dude: Uh, is that what this is a picture of?

Maude Lebowski: In a sense, yes. My art has been commended
as being strongly vaginal which bothers some men. The word
itself makes some men uncomfortable. Vagina.

The Dude: Oh yeah?

Maude Lebowski: Yes, they don't like hearing it and find it
difficult to say whereas without batting an eye a man will
refer to his dick or his rod or his Johnson.

The Dude: Johnson?

yeah, i've been getting into this album a lot lately.. when
i first downloaded a few tracks.. i really didnt like it..
then i gave them another chance, and realized i kinda liked
"i only said".. so then i finally broke down and downloaded
the whole thing.. and finally like two weeks ago it hit me
how great it actually was..i've been listening to it
constantly since..

'isnt anything' isnt nearly as good, though 'lose my
breath', '(when you wake) youre still in a dream' and 'no
more sorry' are all really great.

havent heard anything else yet, though

i second the recommendation of slowdive's 'souvlaki' ..its
amongst my top 10 all time favorite albums.

kevin shields also produced the last 2 j mascis (previously
of dinosaur jr) albums i believe(he at least produced or
mixed or did something on the debut mascis solo album, i
never heard the newer one so i dont know. but he is doing
stuff and not just sitting around)

why're you telling me this? kevin shields has collaborated
with j. mascis, curve, and primal scream throughout the 90s
and has remixed yo la tengo and mogwai, among others.

My favorite MBV album is Ecstacy and Wine, which is really 2
EPs stuck together. Just such perfect jangle pop! I guess
I'm alone in loving it to death. Not as noisy as the others,
but still some ''white noise'' backdrops behind the ringy
6-stringers. Wicked drums too. Butcher's voice is soooooooo
purdy, it makes me gooey inside.

i think I have three of their albums
loveless is where it's at...
that wall of sound as Dykehouse explains it - he turned me
on to them anyways
