thats crazy
i wouldn't want to know my future either

a story from my aunts house, well there were all sorts of
things happening, like all the doors in there house being
knocked on at the same time, with no one there...but really
my mother told me that when she was watching sydney (my
aunt's daughter) she was listening to the radio, and all of
the sudden it switched to some static...no big deal, perhaps
just some bad interference, so she tuned it back in and sure
enough a few minutes later it went back to static...my
mother said as she went to turn it off, it started
whispering some weird inaudible language and then yelled
look sydney...my mother freaked and turned it off...maybe
not all that scary, but for some reason it gives me the
creeps

one more thing during this time sydney would ask who the guy
on the wall was...when there was no guy there...

maybe you'll find it dumb, but whatever...

orbs? do you mean orb lightnings? hehe they can be really
spooky but totally natural.. once when i was in camp a ball
lightning came into our cottage trhough an open window..

the footsteps in the house -deal happens to me often when i
have fever.. as do all sorts of audible delusions

i have been mssing around with spiritism (althouhg i never
had a fancy 'ouija'board, just a glass on a paper with
letters.. what spooked me was that when i did it alone, the
glass moved even though i _did not_ touch it, making real
words.. my friends had provoked something evil during their
little 'tests' and heard spooky voices and had a bad luck
for a long time (plus exploding heat-proof thick glass
glasses and other spacey things), but i went the 'mirror and
a dead relative photo' way and never got trouble, just
spooky answers, which i never wrote down since i'm not sure
should i know those things. anyway i know there are some
weird things in this world and i always have me blessed
cross here.

Not a ghost story as such, but a girl I dated was of Turkish
descent and a fairly linear (blood related) ancestor was
some Turkish equivalent of a count or lord. He was killed
for vampyrism by the peasents apparently they all went into
his castle at night carrying torches- just like you see in
horror films.

Most likely he was:
a) Innocent
b) Just some looney aristocrat with a penchant for blood.

But maybe he really was a vampire.

i relate to these points very well

most of the time i insulate myself to the vibes of
locations, well perhaps insulate is not the right word, im
accustomed to different places carrying different traces of
emotion.. that much is second nature to most of us. if you
ask me, empathy can save you from a lot of trouble.

i remember last year i was walking along an isloated patch
of the swan river at night, near dalkieth (perth dudes will
know where i mean)

anyway theres a rock wall to our right, and the sandbank is
tapering off. we approach a sharp turn and the sand which
until now was pristine has black rocks jutting out of it
everywhere.

then suddenly we both get hit with this god-awful fear.
start walking slower and slower. my mate picks it up first
he has stopped dead. im still walking. he whispers to me to
stop and i come back. he has gone very pale.

my mate says.. i dont think we should go there. then my own
sensations pick up. what was a tightness in my shoulders
that i had been ignoring has blown out to a choking
sensation in my throat, my eyes start burning up, and our
mood which was previously euphoric from such a beautiful
walk has been overcome with a terrible sadness

we got the hell out of there.. there was something very bad
around that corner.. and we just werent the right people to
find out (perhaps it wasnt for us!)

Well,

I went on a holiday in Tasmania a couple of years ago and we
visited Port Arthur, this place where convicts spent their
time in the old days, and we went on a ghost tour at night.

I was about 12 at the time and we were led into all these
old echoey houses and told all these freaky stories, and I
was just terrified out of my wits. The slightest little
movement made me jump. Anyway, this one place we went to was
this old prison corridor, it had stone walls and cement
floors and big old oak wooden doors that held prisoners in
their tiny little cells.

I swear, as soon as we walked in that goddamn place I sort
of froze over. For one thing, it was icy. You could
almost visualise the images of conicts dragging their chains
across the ground. This one cell in the corridor, number 42
I think it was, had this story that went along with it
(nobody was allowed to go in this particular cell cause it
was so haunted).

When the place was being a little modified when Port Arthur
first became available to the public, 2 workmen were having
their lunch in the prison corrider, standing next to Cell 42
and leaning on the wall. They were talking amongst
themselves, when this ghostly apparition of a hand appeared
through the cell door and grabbed one of them by his arm.
They both saw it and ran out of the place, not daring to go
in the place ever again.

May not seem too scary, but it just sends chills down my
spine.

There were heaps more stories, I'll have to see if I can
remember more, and find a URL for Port Arthur (freaky
place!).

i think there have been too many instances like this to
think that 'ghosts' dont exist....

but u have to look to the remote parts of the world to
really dig shit up. My Nan grew up in a tiny village in
Pakistan, and had many, many encounters with such beings,
half of which she won't tell us kids about coz they will
shit us up. But trust, if u really want ghost stories theres
plenty more out of cities, away from the bulk of humans...

in my religion (islam) it actually documents the existance
of such beings, called 'jinns', and apparently they are like
us in that they have a free choice to behave or fuck around.
they look as people keep describing them , whiteish and
shapeshifting

oh and about encounters when your sleeping, 99.9% of these
will the 'paralysis attacks', of which i have had. You cant
move and u wake up, and feel and evil presence in the
room...

'smokehammer', the randy ghost comment of yours: women in
the middle ages often talked about being raped by 'incubus'
demons, but they were really having paralysis attacks.

men can be raped by 'succubus' demons in their sleep to!
(bring it on!!!)

i remember this thread when it was originally posted - good
stuff - still creeps me out

there is a huge history of ghosts in my family - my great
grandfather was seen sitting beside my great grandmother at
my mom's wedding - both were dead.

everyone on my grandfather's side of the family, EVERYONE
has experienced family ghosts. almost every ghost that our
family has experienced has been from the family.

the paralysis stuff is weird - it's because you're so scared
of osmething that happened in the dream that you can't
move...my psych. teacher told me when i asked.

Hehe, thxs for the correction damn silent Y.

Well, one thing did come to mind now thinking about
that...the light at the end does make me sorta skeptical on
how it fades, now I'm no expert, but who's not to say that
the kid is still alive? I mean they don't have any solid
evidence that he did pass, just some "story" on how his wife
and son both died.

either you're embellishing the story or your psyche teacher
is full of shit. it doesn't have to do with fear- your body
is completely paralyzed during any dream, good or bad.
sometimes it happens that you're still aware when you start
slipping into a dream, and you become paralyzed, but can
still see and hear... although it feels like you're halfway
into sleep... this happens, it's happened to me at least
once and i'm sure some of you have experienced it

One of my friends owns some cabins out in the Swedish woods,
so when my mom and her boyfriend visited me a couple of
months ago, we had to take a trip to the cabins. The cabins
are like 2 miles from the city, and in a really (and i mean
REALLY) big forest.
Anywhoo...when going to sleep in the cabins, i was sleeping
in the entrance part of the little cabin. I was sleeping at
the top of a "two floored bed".
Around 3 in the morning i couldn't sleep. I was sweating
like hell, and when i finally almost slept, the creepy thing
happened.
I literally felt someone walking on the path outside the
house. Thinking it was some kinda lucid dream i just went
with the flow of experiencing this. But suddenly i felt that
there was a man looking in at the window next to me. And all
through this i was lying on the side, with my face towards
the wall.
I was suddenly very frightened and I became totally
paralyzed when i felt someone standing right next to the
bed. I could feel this man standing there, and i felt his
presence all down my back.
Suddenly I felt two arms sliding under me, like if he was
trying to lift me up. I was totally paralyzed of fear, but I
knew that i had to try to move. So i tried getting of free
of it, and suddenly it all was gone, and i was drenched in
sweat from the adrenaline. I don't think i have ever been
quite that scared before.

Next day I told the owner of the cabins, and he told be that
he always thought that there where something suspicious
about that bed. Because when buying the bed from some folks
that where selling all the thing in a house, they almost
seemed happy about getting rid of that early 20th century
wood bed.

i've had these "paralysis attacks" twice. It's the scariest
shit that has ever happent to me. I tried to move and i
tried to scream but i couldn't, i was completely paralyzed.
The second time i remember seing a strange "face" coming
sraight at me, then i gained conciousness and freaked all
out. When this happens, it's like your body is asleep but
your mind's still awake, it's FREAKY as hell. i hope i will
never experience it again

I have had it lots...It's always after a dream, and after
thinking about it that day I asked her, it was always after
an intense moment in a dream.

So I didn't embellish, and she wasn't full of shit, it
seems. Just something your body does. No ghost crap.

yeah paralysis attacks are mental. i did a talk about them
once. Its really interesting some of the stuff on the net
about it

but yeah it basically happens coz u wake up when ur body is
still in a natural paralysed state. In my one i couldnt move
and felt some fuck off alien or being coming towards me. i
shat myself

YES! I was just thinking about this thread the other day,
but I figured I'd never find it in the archive and forgot
about it.

"we never went to gordons
house we just sat at the side of the road recovering ,when
i
asked chris what he saw he said everything as i had seen it
which confermed that i wasnt seeing things or had imagined
it, he was shit scared aswell. when we had recoverd we both
walked the long way back to our own homes."

What a great childhood tale.
