Should Marijuana Be Legalized!?

I think that it's on it's way to beig legal, due to the
decrimanalisation (s/p !!!) of it, and the extended medical
research on it. There's no way they can just say, okay, it's
legal today !! It would be like dropping a bomb on
everyone, there'd be outraged people and stoners everywhere
!! They seem to be edging it in

I read somewhere that a large part of the calming effect is
actually a combination of the following:

Getting another hit of nicotine- satiating the craving and
reducing the associated stress.

Taking time out from what you're doing- e.g. five minutes
away from work.

Concentrating on your breathing and breathing more slowly.

What about the damage to my health thru stress when someone
bitches over and over that I'm going to get cancer and die?
Or my blood pressure rising when someone sits there twisting
their face and waving their hand over their face when it
would take nothing to politely request that I don't smoke.

I had a very bad temper all my life. Smoking cut it down and
while I'm on ganja I'm just a big pussy cat. :>

Hee hee! :)

One of the things I like about my local arthouse cinema
(which have a lot of electronic gigs) is their strict non
smoking policy. You can actually wear your clothes the next
day without smelling like an ash tray...

I think part of the problem is that my hair is very thick
and holds smoke incredibly well- I remember getting quizzed
by a teacher about smoking weed for a few days after a
festival, despite having washed my hair about 3 times.

No, because it's a gateway drug and also the fact that we
don't need another legalized substance that can impair
drivers. Alcohol is bad enough as it is.

"I'm just a big pussy cat."

Ah, so you're a shape shifting dragon!

Sounds like a go0d idea for a manga film- a stoner dragon
turns into a cat whenever it lights up...

a pain in the ass. :/

I think it should be legal to smoke in private. Hell,
alcohol is legal and it's just as bad, if not worse, than
marijuana.

ganja keeps me at bay.. so yes it should be legal. hmm, or
maybe not. it would be taxed too much :o

anyway i have to agree with ceri that cigarettes should be
illegal too

why, you only hurrt yourrself, people don't kill people in
carrs while underr the influence of tobaco. if anything (not
that i want it to) alcohol should be banned.

I am in agreement, however many would point to the fact that
second hand smoke causes cancer in non-smokers.

i can't rreally arrgue with that, but 9/10 places arre orr
have non-smoking sections, and most smokerrs arre willing to
sit in theirr arrea of the cafe, and accept they can't smoke
anywherre anymorre.

They have these anti-marijuana commercials on here in the US
saying 1/3 drivers who get into major accidents or are
killed in accidents or something test positive for
marijuana. They don't tell you how many of these drivers
don't have a license to drive though. I'm gonna bet at
least 1/3 of the people that tested positive didn't have a
license. And so is it marijuana that cause the accident, or
the fact they couldn't drive, or pure coincidence?
I Say Legalize it.

I don't understand why they don't push campaigns against
drugs like heroine or coke. Those are the bad drugs. Even
acid is tame in the sense of the problems it causes compared
to heroine.

In one the commercial that blames weed for auto accidents
they show this kid putting a picture of his brother next to
a tree where his brother got killed while driving stoned.
The kid in the picture that was supposedly driving looked to
be about 12. It was obvious he wasn't old enough to have
license.

yea, they don't campaign against heroine or coke because
people don't need to be told they're bad, but people have to
be told that marijuana's bad. hmmm.....

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2003-03-05 14:13 [#00582131]
Points: 3436 Status: Lurker

That means they only want you to think marijuana is bad
because it benefits the organizations that campaign against
it. THey can't just stop now that they've started. They
need to continue telling people what to think so that people
still think it's a problem and continue making them rich. I
look at them pretty much as nazi's. If weed were as big of
a problem as they make it out to be there would be no need
for commercial because the problem would already be obvious
to everyone. And I don't even smoke weed anymore, but I
feel one should be able to if he wants. Acid is yummy to.
All heroine and coke can just disapear.

exactly my point: the people as a whole know what's what, if
marijuana were as bad as they say we'd already know it, it
would be a part of the popular culture just as crack and
heroine are.

Legalize? Are you kidding? At least in the USA, it won't
happen. The War on Drugs is simply too valuable to the
economy. If pot is legal, they can't link it to terrorism
anymore! Ideally, everything should be allowed; and people
would understand when to stop smoking, who needs to be
killed, etc, etc,. For now, the question is not "should it
happen?"; but more importantly, "why can't it happen?".

Drink driving kills many, stoned while driving will increase
death toll even further.
I mean, who here can drive while stoned?

I think alcohol should be illegalised, but that will never
happen, imagine the public outrage! The same goes for
cigarrettes, but they should be smoked only in designated
rooms.
Mary-Jane is a gateway drug,there no denying it,and i'm a
smoker .Maybe it should be allowed to be smoked in the users
home.
