Actually there was a strong co-operation between natives and
immigrants after independance. Most of the massacring went
on by the Colonialists I believe, pre-declaration of
independance. And after the declaration they had a big civil
war, partly over the liberation of slaves. I am talking
about the original ideology of the United States, and the
abuse of its citizens---I am not congratulating the
Corporations or the Colonists.

i've learned to steer clear of those on here... marlowe, you

brutal world... there must be more like you somewhere... :)

Its alright to right it down but if you blatantly ignore it
in practice, its not worth the paper its written on. Quite
literally!

It was a case of "we've invaded a country, we've abused
blacks to build our luxury homes, we've ghettoised the
natives, now let's offer them an olive branch." The
declaration of independence was an attempt to wallpaper over
their actions. There was no honest intent on their part, as
the next couple of hundred years have shown. And if they
wanted anything changed, they just introduced an amendment
to the declaration.

Yeah, that was one of points Jonesy--the potential and how
it has been manipulated and abused to create the monster
that is modern Corporate America.

I think you'll find the native Americans have been living on
reservations for along time and still are. Do a Google
search on Leonard Peltier.

Like I said, it was mainly the colonists and rich people who
did the abusing. As I said, it's not them I'm defending.
It's not even necessarily the people who signed the
Declaration. The fact that the Constitution came about was
the potential I talked of.

I said that the only place I would live in Africa was South
Africa, you said "Me too. They knew how to treat the blacks
there."

What was the point of your comment?

I was being ironic. I was highlighting the implicit racism
of your comments.

I know they are the indiginous population--it was the
Colonials and the Conquisadors who fucked them up most, and
it's not the regular citizenry who are fucking them up now.

Thought so, you were assuming I was being racist.

I have family in South Africa, that's why I would live
there.

I know but we are talking in terms of the country. They
espoused one thing and did another. Just as today.

danbrusca might be black. Would that make a difference?
Would you applaud him for wanting to go back to his roots?
Oh, I wish danbrusca was black. Tell me you're black
danbrusca - that would teach him.

See, you have a habit of seeing things that aren't there. I
didn't praise South Africa at all.

I still think Sudan is a shithole and would actively go out
of my away to avoid having to live there. The same could be
said of many *white* dominated countries too.

I'm french, and I hate my country. I left it 6 years ago -
I'm ashamed to be french, and I will get married with my
girlfriend to change citizenship.

> is it because of the government (last law being you can't
criticize or parody the national flag and hymn... it's such
a fucking shame)?
the population in general (who made the awful result in the
last election happen)?
if it's so i would agree...
the general mentality in the country (clichés are probably
all based on realities, so yes)?
or/and something else?

(sorry for using too much parenthesis (parenthesises?)...)

you're not the only one who is far from being proud...

There's a difference between saying somewhere is
underdeveloped (i.e. raped by the West) and a shithole. Show
some respect.

sudan is a big country with lots of oil and chances to
develop but the oil corporations are having a tight grip on
the country, assuring their civil war continues and all the
oil money is only for war funding. also, sudan is one of the
countries that are in danger of go all desert when erosion
caused by bad farming habits and wood cutting eats up all
the fertile lands..

rantityrants. lets go grap a morally approvable beer jonesy.

The SNP are a bunch of arses. If Scotland had independence,
tax rates would be hugeand I personally dont think it would
be worth it. Arseholes, the lot of 'em.

And I quote Mark Renton from Trainspotting: "ITS SHITE BEING
SCOTTISH." I should know. :)

my country is full of dumb violent drunkards, it is hard to
find anything interesting ANYWHERE accept for the capital
cities, and you get stereotyped as either an outback brute
