Actually, that was a silly list, I forgot Broken Sword,
Monkey Island, Super Mario World, Toonstruck, Deus Ex, and
Sim Ant (FIND Sim Ant if you can, it's awesome.)

I wish a third one was out. I played the old ones again and,
though it has some annoying gameplay elements and a fairly
dire/bizarre script, it's still better than most things I've
played recently. It's a belivable world and there's loads of
slightly derranged characters and objects to interact with,
and the game world is huge.

"Outcast" is another overlooked classic imho.

*apologies for the dreadful writing, I'm having a lonely
port-and-gaming session. Red wine gets boring.

1) Carmageddon 2
2) Carmageddon 2000: The death race (it is a grower)
3) Carmageddon 1 (it is funny to play this almost DOS crap
:)

then in no particular order:
quake 3, CS, Snake Rattle & Roll.

Outcast! I need to find a copy of that as soon as possible.
Like you say, severely underrated.

How? Why? The original Carmageddon was so much better then
the next parts. It was visceral, the next ones seemed
plastic in comparison.

I've never understood why it flopped, though. It's still the
most ambitious game I've ever played, and the variation in
how both friend and foe responded to your actions every time
you played boggles the mind. Screw Fable or Black and White;
this did the good and evil thing years before both of them,
and in a larger and more coherant world.

Everyone, buy Outcast.

i didn't mean Carmageddon the first is crap, i meant that
the quality of graphics is crap in it :) The game itself is
fun. But the first carmageddon in my life was "carpocalypse
now" so that's my fav!
actually, the whole series can be my number one game.

The graphics weren't great, but good enough, although I only
played in lo-res. What drew me to the title was the way the
bodywork got deformed by the impact. Actually, all the
physics was quite good for the time. Aaaah, and of course
Fear Factory without vocals was a damn good choice!

1. Rez - Dreamcast
2. Resident Evil 4 - Gamecube
3. Blood - PC
4. GTA - Liberty City Stories - PSP
5. Chaos - ZX Spectrum

Those are the games I've enjoyed most, even though I
recognise they aren't all amongst "the best" in terms of
design, graphics, longevity, etc.

Resistance is getting pretty close now, I'm more hooked on
this than any FPS since Perfect Dark in Y2K, 3 beatings now
and I am going to try and likely fail to beat it on
Superhuman. It's a shame this game was sent to die.

Yeah E3 has really been gimped but there's a new MGS4
trailer tomorrow, so it seriously feels like Christmas Eve
to me tonight. I hope it shows off a non-Middle East
environment.

offline gyroscope on 2007-07-10 19:50 [#02101728]

it's pretty lame that the most exciting things about this e3
are the upcoming trailers of games we already know about,
like metal gear solid 4 and super smash bros. apparently
nintendo has been holding back on information on a lot of
first party games so i'm hoping they blow everybody away
with their conference. i'm also expecting news of a lower
class-friendly xbox 360 model to follow the news of sony
cutting the price of the ps3 by 100$.

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2007-07-10 19:56 [#02101729]

I'd say the centerpiece of this E3 will be Killzone 2, not
necessarily because it's going to be a great game (though I
loved the first one and this one will also rock and I love
killing Jin Roh ripoff soldiers), but because of the fanboy
animosity and all the hilarious drama dating back to its E3
2005 trailer. Neogaf is going to explode, there were
seriously about 100 pages of discussion and arguments just
on a crappy leaked jpg this morning. For me half the fun
with video games is bullshit like that.

Points: 896 Status: Regular | Followup to Ophecks: #02101729

haha! i was actually just reading through that
killzone jpg thread. well, i skipped from the first page to
the last but it was still the same discussion. e3 is the
nerd's christmas so hopefully santa comes to town this year.

The topic about the leak is almost 40 pages, all today
alone, and the Official Killzone 2 News and Info thread must
have been 100. The hype is just crazy!

As a Sony fanboy things are starting to come together and
feelings of vindication are forming. I really hope MGS4
isn't multi-platform.

See it's just so senseless, I have a PS3 and a 360 yet I'm
thinking stupid thoughts like these lol internet video game
things

When revisiting this topic, I realize there's not much point
in making a list of my own, since I pretty much agree with
the first list compiled by Ophecks... But, let's at least
shuffle things around a bit! So here's a list of my top 6
(5+1):

1) Tetris
2) Super Mario 64
3) Final Fantasy 7
4) Xenogears
5) Zelda 3
6) Katamari Damacy
