well i started with ep7, which scared me away for a while. with confield, i think the melodies are actually in the beats and rhythms, its more of an exercise in texture. i don't think its great, but its good enough.

i understand everything. i created it i created confield as a test it seperates teh people who know quality from the people who have a self-perception of an ideally original individual.
you are all the konstrukt's of the twelve. never forget that. you have seperated yourselves into these two categories and beyond quite nicely and i thank you for your participance in this little experiment.
now if you'll excuse me i must get back to my latest 'identity'>knell.

stop it, you guys are going to drive me insane. have you ever heard pan sonic? merzbow? sawII??? melody is not a prerquisite for making music. it's an option. all of music is noise. why not take it to a purer form? why not make music purely out of noise. it seems natural. somtimes melody can be a distraction when you're trying to make communicate with sounds. so eliminate it! it's not always necessary.

mm... have you not listened to it in a while? there's some noise tracks. [while listening to it] track 11 on disc one. on disc 2- track 4, track 9, and track 10 (arguable I suppose)

I prefer melody, that's mainly what I look for in a song... but it's always nice to go off and try something else. Confield is freakin' unique...
I do miss their pretty synth stuff from Amber and Incubabula, though. Nice melodies, they're definitely capable of some more.

my only advice would be to leave the album alone for at least a month, better if two, and then listen to it again.

for all you pholks who think ae is soooo radical and cutting edge i invite you to step into the time machine and go back 7 years or so to when i was listening to this new and cutting edge 'musik' phenomenon called noise.
it's been doen to death, and to be honest i have no idea how i listened to that rubbish for two years?
noise, jazz, and classical were all i listened to. noise is so old and now it's returned to 'kewl' kutür with the likes of ae.
bollocks. they are doing nothing at all even close to the quality of 'noise' that came out in the early to mid 90s.
jus the same, it was a response to popp culture and a really lame one at that.
if one is to listen to the natural sounds, as opposed to the fabricated, i'd rather listen to rain on my roof thank you very much.
and to the boarder dude>you aren't missing a thing! MWA HA HHA HAHAH DDD

Yeah, I guess that's what they're saying.
skodt - can you give us some recommendations for those of us who like Confield and would like more of the same...
I checked out Noise Genre at Allmusic but which artist(s) should you start with?

When a noise is more effective than a melody I see no reason not to use it...
It's the endresult that counts, not the ingredients

I guess not....
Read the Manifestos issued then and you'll see exactly what a huge part noise played in that movement....

Cheers for the cool link Jand. I remember reading about these crazy cats a few years ago. YOu wonder how they did it. I think even Autechre get a rough ride today, imagine what it must have been like a century ago. People like Russolo are an inspiration. (he also came from portogruaro in the Veneto!)
