My advice to anyone at any age contemplating trying any drug would be: don't bother.
So many people I know have completely fucked their lives up. It's amazing what a detrimental effect drugs have on people. I would say every person I know who regularly smokes weed is fucked in the head, at least to some extent. And the majority of them have no ambition, drive or future.
The problem with drugs is that once you start doing them, and you enjoy them, it's very difficult to stop. You start hanging around with other people who are also into doing drugs, and you just can't help yourself - if they smoke a joint, so do you. Eventually, some members of your group will start moving on to harder drugs, and they'll have a good time at first. You'll see this, and you'll try the harder drugs too.
This won't happen in every case, but in 90% of cases I reckon it's true.
Drugs are also really fucking boring. I know loads of people who just talk about drugs all the fucking time. It's shit and they bore me to death. They are so dull - all they can do to relieve boredom is to smoke a joint, take a pill or whatever. And that's where they're fucked - they're dependent on the drugs now. Take the drug away from them, and they have nothing. They become incredibly depressed and bored.
Don't believe what anyone tells you - weed is not harmless, and it can and often does lead onto harder drugs.

90% huh? you're talking out of your ass. just because you know people or heard of people who smoke weed and then gone on to harder drugs doesn't mean it was the weed that caused them to do harder drugs. one thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other; your arguement has no substance. people who try harder drugs are just that type of person. the absolute truth is that weed no more leads to harder drugs than coffee leads to weed. that's one of the biggest myths about marijuana.
as an example, me and my cousin. we both started smoking weed at the same time. years later he experimented with methamphetamines. he offered me the chance to also, but i declined. i'm perfectly happy with only weed and will NEVER move on to harder drugs.

How do you know I'm talking out of my fucking ass?
I'm speaking from my own personal experience - how do you know that isn't what I've experienced?
And I think that's total bullshit that weed doesn't lead onto harder drugs. Of course it does. Loads of people who do harder drugs started off with weed (you gave an example in your posting - your cousin!). I know plenty of people who started with weed and said that was all they'd ever do, and now do ecstasy, speed, ketamine and cocaine.
The fact is that once you get into the drug subculture, you start mixing with other people who take drugs. It's inevitable that you'll meet people who take drugs other than weed, and there will be some temptation to try the other drugs. OK, some people can resist this temptation (apparently yourself, for example). However, many other people end up getting drawn into it and taking other drugs.
THAT's how marijuana use leads to use of other drugs.
And even if all you do is weed, that's not exactly an achievement is it? It's not as if weed is good for you. You're still risking mental illness (many studies link weed to paranoid psychosis, schizophrenia etc. I know someone who works in a mental health clinic, and the majority of young people who attend are dope-smokers with mental health problems). You're also risking memory loss, various cancers, infertility, etc.
So, although you may not take drugs "harder" than weed, you still use a dangerous drug.

Still, who cares, laquero should choose for himself. If he was to ask "should I slit my wrists tonight as I realise this life is shit and I don't want to live anymore", well, it's your choice, ol' boy.

If you are going to try drugs I suggest you stay with Ganja for now. Music after a nice joint is so amazing, you can feel the music around you and pick up on some fantastic details. However try to keep it as a weekend thing as smoking a joint can make you very lazy and will stop you doing things (Homework, Housework etc). Moderation and small limitation is the key I think. Don't smoke too much either, a bad turn is not fun. I've been smoking Ganja for years now and have no desire to try anything harder then that. Stick to Ganja as a small Saturday night thing alone or with friends and I don't think you can go wrong. Ganja is not chemically addictive like Cigarettes but you can become dependant on it if you smoke it regularly, I also ruined a lot of music I like because it now sounds poor unless I have a joint. I'm the kinda dragon that if I have it I'll smoke it, so now I've made sure I only have access to it on weekends. I'm 21 now by the way so maybe at the age of 13 you should follow the others examples and not go for it quite yet. Certainly don't be bigoted to it as a line like 'Ganja is a horrid drug that kills people' is unmitigated bullshit but trust me, you will certainly come in contact with other drugs once your in this world. Be strong and stick to Ganja if you choose. I'm sure after reading the collective experiences of everyone on this topic you will make the correct decision regarding your own life and respect to you for having the sense to investigate it first.

manicmincer - you're still talking the same flawed reasoning. it's not the weed that leads onto harder drugs, it's THE PERSON and the CHOICES THEY MAKE IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS! the example i gave with my cousin is the perfect example of this, because i chose not to do harder drugs, therefore my smoking weed had absolutely nothing to do with my choice. You're trying to link two things that have only incidental effect on eachother. weed, in situations where people get drawn into harder drug situations, could be any illegal drug and have the same end result for these CERTAIN TYPE OF PEOPLE who end up using harder drugs, so it's not the weed's fault in the least! it's the person's fault for making the choices. CHANCES ARE THEY WOULD MAKE THE SAME CHOICES IF WEED NEVER ENTERED THE EQUATION.
plus, there's TONS of weed smokers that stay clear of situations in which hard drug use goes on, probably just as many as not, if not more. basiclly you're using weed as a scapegoat.
the studies you cite are not definitive proof. do you have a source on the web? sufficient official study can't be done on marijuana because the government won't allow it, so as to continue shrowding the truth with fear of the unknown, exagerated claims, and false logic statements such as the one you're making. there's also UNBIASED studies that say weed has no ill effects that you speak of.

In the most nonbiased way I can sum it up:
1)if I were you, I would wait just a little bit. 2)weed CAN lead to stronger things but if you have ANY willpower it all I gaurantee it will not. I have smoked weed for over 6 months and never done ANY other drugs, I dont even drink!
3)If you practice control, your chances of becoming even psychologically dependent are much less (ie, dont buy that much or have the willpower to only smoke once a weekend or whatever).
Overall, it depends on the individual. I will say this, I planned to only smoke weed long enough to get high once just so I could see what its like, but now that I know I still do it, so be warned, it may not end up as innocently as you have hoped.
