sorry taoist - u haven't convinced me yet :)
i have a book here that kind of proves what im saying, but there's no manuscript facility on aphextwin.nu :)
basically, it has two phrases at the same speed (72 bpm).
one is in 3/4 and the other is in 3/8. in the 3/8 phrase, all the notes in each bar are half the values of the notes in the corresponding 3/4 bar. it states that if played, both phrases would sound exactly the same. i hope you get what im saying. it could be different to what you think i'm saying :)

Have you heard 'South African man' by Hamilton beauhannant? It's an old disco track before chic did it that way but it's in 9/4 and it works as a dance tune! Genious!

yeah thats exactly what im saying! We must have had confusion before, the music sounds the same and the tempo is the same, I thought earlier you were saying that 3/8 would sound the same as something in 3/4 only if it were played at double the tempo.
