are you sure you haven't just pulled that one out of your
secret fantasy-porn collection hidden on your harddrive?

there's plenty of girls like that at my university, but none
of them would have anything to do with the likes of an
IDM-crazy freak ... what planet do you live on, if i may
ask?

me and her are great friends... she looks amazing, and you
wouldn't think it, but she is really sweet and just a really
nice person... not judgemental at all, at least she's never
been with me... I say "friend" because I want more then
that... I've told her, but she's not interested! :(

attractive members of the female sex generally tend to have
far too many choices from amidst which to select a potential
mating partner. in a quest to ensure the best genetic
material for their future offspring, they instinctively pick
males which fit the criteria of being physically robust as a
signifier of good physical and mental health, and can
furthermore ensure only her own welfare, but more
importantly, the survival of the offspring which they will
eventually come to spawn.

that is to say, the vast majority of the members of this
board (most likely including yours truly) will be subject to
exclusion from the process of survival of the species by the
way of natural selection.

it's like that dating bit on MAD TV good few years back:
"Lowered Expectations" ... after dating the girl i've
committed 2 years of my life to (a waste of time, as it was
to turn out), there's just no lowering of standards for me
anymore ... i'll just have to submit to the laws of nature,
i guess. haha.

maybe this is nothing, but in one of those stupid e-mail
survey's, this girl said she did have a crush on me one
time... so, I guess I'm too late... it's strange, I've known
this girl for a couple years, but never found her attractive
till a few months ago... maybe she was giving me signs first
when we met that she liked me or something, and I just
didn't notice... but damn, I want her so bad! Maybe it's a
sign of how smitten I am, but when I was staring at the
Eiffel Tower in Paris, all I could think of was her, and how
I wished she was there with me... oh my!

you must remember that in nature, there is no morality, no
fairness - these are all purely human constructs. humans,
however, being an inseparable part of nature, are subject to
the very same "rules & regulations" which govern all other
forms of life. survival of the fittest - sad but true.

that said, whoever invented porn deserves to be declared a
saint by the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

I agree with Funkmaster, I don't think it's vital they are
really into techno, but if they complain when you play it in
the car it's a big no no.

Funkmaster, I was going to ask: did the purty gurl you so
fancy ever give you a concrete reason as to why she wouln't
consider you as a boyfriend?

If you ever find yourself at odds with her, or if you simply
want to satiate your own curiosity, you should ask her to
explain her rationale for rejecting you - i find it quite
amusing how people can get trapped in a tangled web of their
own contradictions when you ask them to explain their
seemingly "perfectly rational" actions.

well, she said she doesn't think we'd work out as a
couple... she never once said that she didn't find me
attractive... personally I think she thinks about it too
much... me, I don't know if we'd work... maybe we wouldn't,
but I'd like to try and see before deciding...

I think she's also found someone else... another thing going
against me is that she seems to have a thing for black
guys... so, I don't qualify there! :)

just to lighten up the mood of this thread, a positive way
of thinking about any sort of rejections (and in particular,
dating ones) is such:

"your loss, my gain"

if you know your own worth, and have at least an ounce of
self-respect, in 9 out of 10 cases, this phrase proves more
than accurate when considered in the perspective of time.

yeah, i'd like a girlfriend who listens to what i listen to.
my dream girl is a girl who is also a musician - because
music is my love, and i'd like to share that with her.

unfortunately, i know this is a fantasy that shall never
happen. i often think that maybe i'm meant to be alone, and
that doesn't bother me at all.

the girl's acceptance of idm shouldn't/probably won't be the
linchpin in determining whether or not she's worth persuing
in that capacity.. when it comes down to it.. it probably
won't matter.. unless you're into venetian snares

My girl has plenty good taste actually, she's not
particularly into Internet Dork Music but she can put up
with it :)

As long as she isn't some Top-40 (nah, Top 20) pop loving
tool I can get by... or then again it's important that she
is loves music as a whole, it's a big part of both of our
lives.

when the girl is into the same things you are.

Not when music is concerned.

But talking of personalities, my relationship is very much a
case of opposites attract.

Not when music is concerned.
I wouldn't say taste in music should be a factor not to be
in a relationship with someone. Mutual tastes can help
granted, but the opposite should not constitute a reason for
a non-shallow relationship to fail. Plus music taste is
something that is in constant evolution. Tastes change and
also one can learn to appreciate disliked or as of yet
untried music through a significant other and I'd say
learning from each other is very important.

Unfortunately, music will play a HUGE part in who I choose
to boink. Single biggest factor, maybe. I simply couldn't be
with someone who isn't really passionate about music.
Doesn't necessarily have to like Internet Geek Music,
though. Doesn't matter at all what they like, as long as
they like it A LOT... and it's not Clay Aiken.

I don't want a girlfriend anyway, so it's probably a moot
point.

what im scared of is, if a girl i'd really like would tell
me its either her or music...that would be just terrible
but i know it would be terrible for her as well, cos im
pretty obsessed with music, there's actually nothing else i
do
i guess we'd have to compromise, but what if that wasnt
