I'm a little surprised that you all think that this
underwear thing for kids is 'Sick' and symbolises some kind
of Armageddon for our society....

Its not the 'Sexualisation of Children' .. its fashion...

There must be shitloads of 11 year old girls who see All
Saints / Kylie / Geri Halliwell etc..etc...
wearing them and all their classmates read 'Loaded' ... etc

Its wannabe fashion hype fused with fast-buck marketing.
Its no worse than any other form of th cynical marketing
industry. I wouldn't link it to child abuse personally...

I'd link it to young (underage) girls eloping with older
men- which is oftenbreported as kidnapping.

the mythical 'golden- age innocence' of little 'angelic'
kids from evil monsters 'On every street corner'. Why
believe all that 'Your child could be next..' 'This could

Bloody typical. You lefties are living in cloud cuckooland.
Children need protection from perverts, not encouragement to

You ARE sensationalist today boys ..

What a girl of any age wears under her clothes is no
business of anyone else unless she chooses. You're all
getting this debate way out of proportion. Victorian Dads
thats what you remind me of. Don't tell me children weren't
abused way back then ?

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-15 16:51 [#00175715]

Exactly. The bras aren't the problem. Its the perverts who
would attack the young children wearing them, and the
thongs. I mean it doesn't bare thinking about.

Here Thong's are the name for this type of shoe which I

would be no fuss to stores selling 10-year-olds shoes :)

'She was asking for it' about the six year old girl who wore
a mini-skirt. I suppose you agree with him.... ?

No, that's simplifying the argument.

It'd be like putting your head in a guillotine and giving
someone the opportunity to chop it right off. That's the
analogy I'd use.

If you read further up the thread you'll see what I meant.
What I'm saying is I object to the way that young girls are
being encouraged to try to look older. There's that famous
case where a 15 year old's parents tried to take a guy to
court for rape for shagging their daughter. Judge Pickles
(that last bastion of common sense) threw it out when the
defendant explained that as he met her in a nightclub he
assumed she was at least 18 and had never asked her age.

Jedi Chris- I overheard that an employee at the dock offices
had a similair thing!

How about...

"I'm on the At-Risk Register...kidnap me, no-one will mind"
... in a sort of Charlies Angels 70s font...

or

"Hymen Intact but Begging for It" in a stylized Pepsi
logo...

oh fuck..why not "Unable to Testify" Nappies....they'd be
real popular...

I hope THE GAP arn't reading this...those fuckers will nick
all my best ideas...

offline smokehammer from Saigon (Vietnam) on 2002-04-15 16:57 [#00175733]

All I'm saying is

no matter what colour/style/fabric of underwear a girl has
on under her clothes... she is NEVER NEVER NEVER encouraging
anyone ,or 'PARADING' as you put it jonesy... I find that
outlook to be deliberately offensive and frightening... its
part of the problem. Fear.

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-15 17:01 [#00175741]
Points: 6650 Status: Lurker

Its your view that is offensive. My God girl, you really are
all mixed up. I'm not surprised really, growing up in this
day and age. Try and think a bit harder about what you are
saying.

I'm just fucking with you in a juvenile stylee. I agree with
you, but don't like Argos' cynical use of sexuality to sell
products to kids. All they care about is the money.

Judge pickles> Ceri JC, he was prolly right in The case you
mentioned, but he also cleared a man of sexually abusing a
six-year old because 'She was no angel', ie... she was
cheeky and wore a short skirt. Thats the problem . If you
stigmatise certain clothes, you take peoples rights away..

<----- Look at my pic. If I wore this in Saudi or Iraq I
might be sexually harrassed or even worse raped. Would my
clothes have meant i was 'Asking for it' ? *shudder*
