That being said, the matter is far more complex than you've stated, and here is one example, regarding the Steve Jobs thing. In the mid 90's, Apple was shit pop-wise, but all Apple fans loved the OS. Many who were able to perceive subtleties of aesthetics (form+function) and logical nature of an OS, realized that Mac OS was/is a great OS. The people who "got" Mac OS really wished for the masses, such an OS. Most people used Windows (95, etc.), but those users did not love it to the point of wishing that others could experience such an OS ideology. Fast forward to now-- Apple is massive and everyone has Apple shit everywhere. One point with this, is that "the pop masses" become a part of whatever is pop. There is no need for them to have appreciation for Apple OS/hardware aesthetics, for them to take part in Apple, because Apple is now pop. Despite "hating" towards Steve Jobs, he was a man with sincere vision, and he truly believed in Apple. What is most important- yet transparent- is that now, millions have improved computing experiences, because of his visions (and rippling of Apple-type experiences to Windows side, etc.). Maybe the majority of "Apple users" nowadays are dicks, but that is cuz those ppl were already dicks. These pop people were going to be dicks and output bullshit and act like assholes, no matter what thing they chose to be a part of. And that is the main positive point- as a whole-- people's lives are better, if even transparently. Shit people are always shit, if they choose to be. Some footballer might be a murdering rapist, but because of Adi Dassler, he can at least have comfortable feet.
