Perhaps I should have used the term zealot instead.

There are 100s of reasons I could put up here to explain why
I hate macs. I won't do it, because this is an internet
messageboard, and this is a troll thread.

OSes are like religions, both sides have something to say
about the other and both try to get you into their beliefs

windows touch

Windows 7 is going to have touch screen capabilities, its
like Star Trek!

BTW I'm not for either, I think both Windows and OSX are
terrible and the only reason I am not on Linux is because my
sound card isn't supported by it yet.

Linux = free, Linux wins.

Not once did I say that there isn't a lot of impressive
industrial design going into macs. I just think they are
overpriced, the company that makes them uses underhanded
business tactics, and they treat their community of
programmers like dirt.

I also don't like their interfaces. Sure the ipod has a nice
interface (the self explanatory scroll wheel and screen work
together fantastically). I do not like the single
mousebutton they went with on their computers for years. I
can't stand the oversimplification that goes into their OS.
That bar or dock or lobby or whatever at the bottom of every
mac screen is a fucking eyesore.

I like my computer screen stripped down. On my vista
computer I have all the fancy graphics turned off. I have
windows firewall turned off. I have user account control
turned off (thats the pesky program that asks you if you
want certain programs to run and whatnot). My start menu is
set to classic. My explorer window has the directory tree
exposed on the lower lefthand side so I can quickly navigate
from one end of my directory structure to the other.

It took me 20 minutes to customize these settings right when
I got it, and I never get any grief or bluescreens of death
or any errors. I don't have any concerns over OS stability
or security. My computer is practically problem free. Only
programs I want running run and nothing is hidden.

For a while there I really thought Exaph was joking.
Now its become evident that he is clearly not.
Ive never understood people like him, people who are
passionate about any multi-billion dollar corporation whose
only objective is take money from people like him.
I bet hes lining up to buy the ridiculously lame new ipod
shuffle they announced today and somewhere in Cupertino,
Steve Jobs is laughing like some glorifed car salesman
because they managed to take another suckers cash.

There has been a gang war in my city for the last month. 36
people shot. Pretty crazy. It turns out it started when
someone went onto the UN gangs Blogger page and started a
discussion about whether or not to buy a mac or pc laptop.

@ Taxidermist

It took me 10 seconds to hide the dock. Funny how you
critiicse over simplifying then explain how you have to
simplyfy windows. LOL.

@b666

If only we could live without having to spend hey! OINK
invites anyone? PLEASE? Hey I know they take the piss with
their updates but that doesnt mean you HAVE to buy
everything does it? I have only ever bought one iPod so
check your lazy assumptions.

Have the fuckers in this thread are prejudice morons.

In what way is it a good thing that my laptop, operating
system, music application, telephone and mp3-payer are all
from the same company? I fail to understand why all those
Mac fanatics love to put their complete computing experience
in the hands of one company. A company that tries to enforce
complete vertical and horizontal control.

A couple of months ago, I got the chance to do some iPhone
development at my company. I got totally disgusted by the
way Apple wants total control over Apple users and
developers. They control which applications are allowed to
run on your iPhone and they had an NDA which disallowed
developers to talk about iPhone development just to protect
their reputation. They control application distribution to
maximize the profits, and you can't fiddle around with the
software. It's a very scary situation.

I don't want to be a part of that. Sure Apple products are
generally better, but I will never support those cunts.
Microsoft might be the same, but at least they suck at it.

Linux is the only way to a healthy software environment for
me.

unexpected twist to the unexpected twist: kaara is so
frustrated by all these sucky operating systems that he
decides to give up this modern lifestyle and live in an
igloo in antarctica for his remaining days. however, he is
constantly tortured by the penguins, which remind him of
linux.

There are some meterosexual mac-users that will beat you up
(meaning slap you gentely) on the next Remerge party.

Even if you think OSX is the bestest OS ever, how on Earth
do you justify the hardware prices?

They are using the same components as loads of bog standard
computers, yet charging an absolute fortune! I had no idea
pastel paints were SO EXPENSIVE!
Maybe the cost is incurred getting some poor soul to sand
down the corners on everything - something of an
obsession at Apple...

I use a Thinkpad T60. I think it is built very well and is a
good laptop. It isn't a budget model, but I think the extra
money spent is justified by the good build quality and
engineering inside it.
Keyboard is the best ever on a laptop as agreed by everyone
who's used one.
T series is more business orientated. I think the X series
is more for media type things?

Anyway, with the exception of Apple, with laptops, you get
what you pay for generally. Just make sure you choose a
decent one (not some PC World ADVENT brand etc)

Get an apple if you want. They're pretty good computers, but
poor value for money.

And remember, it is just a tool. If it does the job, who
cares what flavour fruit it is.

P.S. I love how apple fanboys always have to defend the
honour of Saint Steve of Cappuccino.

P.P.S Remember Apple products don't have cancer.

so this laptop looks like a pretty good deal. Thoughts
anyone? I'm in the market for a new (pc) laptop, price isn't
really an issue. Anyone want to persuade me to pay more for
a Sony or something nicer?
