OBAMA INAUGURATION

I'd rather have McCain/Palin because they will inherit the
hatred people had for Bush. So people won't give them the
benefit of the doubt or make excuses for them.

We saw a perfect example of what an Obama presidency is
going to be like during the primaries. Hillary and Obama had
almost identical platforms, yet everything she said was
highly criticized. Journalists actually did their job trying
to decipher what she really meant. Yet anything Obama said
was praised and anything unflattering was explained away.
You couldn't tell who were reporters and who were people
working in his campaign. They were reading from the same
script.

That kind of power makes the Obama brand more dangerous than
Bush ever was. Anything done in the name of Obama (i.e.
American interests) will be a-okay with the public because
the newspapers will convince them it is.

The terrible things this country has done for the last 8
years (and every year before that) will continue seamlessly
regardless of who is president. If you care about the rest
of the world you should want some despicable characters in
the White House because thats the only time people actually
pay attention to the atrocities the government commits.

Bush only failed because he wasn't smart enough or a good
enough actor to pull the wool over everyone's eyes, which is
his only job. Obama apparently has no trouble with that.

"What's on the menu?"

"Well, you can have the buffet, or a cup of ground glass."

"Interesting! Which do you recommend?"

"... ...they're both good."

some people say some stupid things on the internet from time
to time. in other news, a person in a gorilla costume
recently walked through the room.

As fleetmouse pointed out, almost half of America's
population didn't find anything wrong with the last 8 years,
or found that whatever McCain/Palin had to offer outweighed
the past 8 years. How's that for depressing?

He didn't get his turn in the bully cockpit. Remember, a
vote for McSenile was a vote for 100 years in Iraq shooting
insignificant brown people.

Anyoo Obama may be more conservative than I'd like but at
least he's a cccombo breaker in Rove's dreaded permanent
Republican majority, and the sea of human suffering that
would have caused.

honestly, after the last 8 years how can anyone possibly be
pessimistic about Obama taking over, he seems like a very
intelligent person with good morals, both things Bush
completely lacked.

I wish him all the best

now if only the UK could have elections soon so we can get
rid of Brown before he does any more damage.

I was just messing with you guys. Obama is Batman.

"For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not
a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews
and Hindus -- and nonbelievers."

This makes him already the best president in living memory.

me.

Obama is the "Black Bush." That is, I see no inherit
differences between the two, and today was just more of the
same for me. Yes, you will get differences on certain
left/right issues, but the foundation is the same. Not to
say these issues aren't important (Roe VS Wade I.E.), but
when you prioritize issues - I can't justify that as being a
foundational difference. More bailouts, more war, more
socializing of our industry (banking first), more inflation,
more deficits, you name it.

People are going to be in a rude awakening. I rue the day
when I can say I told you so for all those people putting
their blind faith in Obama. And see folks, this is where it
gets scary. Regardless if you feel Obama is a puppet (like
Bush) or not, when you have someone coming into office with
that kind of backing I don't see it boding well. Lots of
interesting things. YOu have George H.W. Bush praising
Obama for his cabinet picks. (that should raise question
marks for all the anti-bush obama zombies). You also have
newsweek just recently publishing an editorial, where they
basically made a case for Obama to leave the Patriot Act in
Place as well as the FISA bills because he won't ever use
them!

For me it's a sad day, but I'm hopeful. Hopefully people
will see how pitiful and alike Republicans and Democrats are
to where it ushers in real change than what we are being led
to believe.

Also, stop wearing Obama apparel like it's cool. I mean it
doesn't even say Obama '08 or Change yata yata, it's just an
artists rendition of his face. God I hate people. :]

i'm sorry no-one exists that would make a suitable president
for you.

For the rest of us, lets hope he can at least do some good.
Already he is dealing with Guantanamo bay... 'black Bush'?
What planet are you on?

Oh please, Guantanamo? You don't think there's other
"prisons" for torture? Guantanamo was just a media tool, I
mean it's obvious given the treatment of people there.

No see, there could be a suitable president. I never stated
what was suitable for me, I simply stated issues that he
parallels with Bush, hence my beginning comment. I realize
you are from the UK and have things to worry about their (IE
Bank Nationalization).

I hope for the best too, but I expect the worst (or close to
it).

i don't think you can wipe away every evil detention center
and every evil patriot act blah blah without losing your
power instantly. he's a completely new fish in an old
stubborn system, you think he should be completely reforming
american politics. if he tried to do that he really would be
assassinated, or at least completely shut down. STOP BEING
SO IMPATIENT AND JUST BE FUCKING THANKFUL.

Yeah I hate the Obama fanboyism, some people are taking his
win a little too far, specially leftwingers, there will be a
day if you disagree with a Obama policy you'll have to start
your phrases with "Hey, I'm not a racist but..."

Your right he would be assassinated if you believe Obama is
a puppet of some oligarchy. Now for argument sake let's
take the mainstream image and understanding of Obama. If he
were to end the wars in the middle-east, reverse the Patriot
Act, and reverse the FISA bills that would have even more
public approval.

And you say be thankful, thankful of what exactly pertaining
to Obama?

"US president devotes first full day at White House to
getting rid of discredited Bush policies"

Black Bush?

"Obama will to talk to Iran 'without preconditions'"

something the US hasn't done for 30 years I think

"Obama shuts CIA's 'ghost prisons'"

"New US president embarks on wholesale deconstruction of
George Bush's war on terror"

when you see it believe it then, won't be long at this rate

hyperrealistically

1.)"a Negro Imperialist" -Fred Hampton

or

2.)herald of the new world

Yep, the U.S. bombing the border of Pakistan today
emphasizes that nicely. My point through all of this is
that there are too many Obama zombies. And when you look
back at History and see the various leaders/rulers who had
such a herd of sheep it didn't turn out very well to say the
least.
