dubstep.fm is really fucking awesome. I thought XLT was all
about dub step? For a while so many of you were really
bragging it up ;D

I like it a lot more now then I did before. There is a lot
to learn from it's production and I think it helped restore
my mentality on producing music. I spend more time on my
sounds now then I did before.

I really like it, I don't know the names of anyone though...

RDJ should release a dubstep record. Then it wouldn't be a
dying trend anymore. It'd be "avant-garde."

great things are happening in dubstep right now... too many
artists to name pushing it in new directions.

all the producers need to do is make it exciting i.e.
danceable plus they need to elabourate their arrangements,
less loopy 8 bar things and more intricate programming or
development of melodies harmonies and rhythms, some dubby
delays, basically more musical. when you get 3 dubstep
records and mix them all on top of eachother that's what
dubstep should sound like, like druqks slowed down by king
tubby

offline diamondtron on 2009-01-05 04:03 [#02262292]

i really liked thay hyperdub release that was old school
kinda style i think the name was lv, it was a proper song, i
think it even has a sax, one of the worst instruments going,
sounding good

Zomby is definitely my dubstep man of the moment. He has a
lot more balls than other producers and has made some great
tunes over the past 12 months.

Strange Fruit is just incredible. It is like Mathew Jonson
on steroids.

ZOMBY (UK, first SF appearance)
Star Eyes (NYC)
Lazer Sword (SF, Live)
Disco Shawn (SF)

Start Time:
Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 9:00pm
End Time:
Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00am
Location:
the Rickshaw Stop
Street:
115 Fell Street
City/Town:
San Francisco, CA

I will definitely be there, although zomby hasn't fulled
clicked with me. on the other hand, joker has been rocking
my headphones quite frequently.

i'm super serious about keeping an eye on reso - i've gotten
a hold of a lot more of his releases and this guy can do no
wrong so far.

it has a sax or some kind of horn, it's singing all the way
thru, it is hyperdub, i think its called LV, it didnt get
talked about much, v. good, old school reggae dubstep
the moody boys mix of erika badhu is kinda tame but kinda
sweet

ok just to let people i just got onto waffles and there is a
metric shit ton more dubstep on there as opposed to what.
i've found artists with only one or two releases on what
where waffles has like seven.

and strange fruit is a great track. it's one of those tracks
where you're having some trouble getting the rhythm till the
beat comes it, then it's super swinging.

i downloaded a bunch of zomby, and well.....
first of all it sounds like hes using a 10hz bass that cuts
off at like 20, cuz even on these headphones i cant hear
it.
i hear a really low volume rumble of sorts.

further his flstudio synth melodies really do my head in,
and the percussion is simple..
i cant get into it i guess

haven't formed an opinion on dubstep I'm obviously just too

Dubstep is so fucking varied already. It's gone through in
just a few years, what most other genres of dance music has
took a decade or more to evolve into.

For instance, I absolutely love Vaccine's ambient dubstep,
and Skuba's trance-electronica-techno-dub stuff, not to
mention Joker's purple shit, and Luke Envoy/Peverelist's
'IDM'-ish dubstep.

But I fucking hate Caspa & Rusko's cockney fartline shit.
Also not keen on Pinch & Distsance's middle-of-the-road 'old
school' sounding dubstep.

The point I'm making is...there's too much generalization
going on here!!!!!
