The past few years here there was a lot of cut weed. Sand, sugar or even glass (and probably more). So many people still smoked it.The hash is good though, moroccan, afghan, dutch skuff. And it seems good weed is back again.
I have been smoking for a good 16 years. Lately i only really like to smoke at home, it's a mild sedative i enjoy alone, watching telly or browsing the net. Unlike some, i'm not sure i make my best music when stoned.

cut with sugar? sand? glass?
who would be stupid enough to do this? why not cut it with, i don't know, some kind of plant material? fucking oregano?
burn some sugar, smell it and tell me that people are cutting weed with sugar.
if anyone ever did this, i doubt they did it more than once...

sprayed "grit weed" is very common in the uk. it's not sand or glass or sugar or whatever though, some sort of dessicant i think. supposed to dry stuff out without a proper cure, bulk up the weight (9 kilos into 10 or so i hear) and make underdeveloped buds look more crystally. shitty stuff

Yeah it's to add more weight and look crystally like belb mentions. The sprayed stuff was probably around too. I know about the 'sand' and other stuff as many people ended up in hospital and it went to the press.

It was diluted sugar in water, sprayed on the weed btw. maybe to make the stuff shiny and sticky. Yeah plaid i've never smelt burnt sugar...

I wish there was a fucking edit option. The sugared weed was very hard to smoke btw, and you had to light it up all the time. a youngster in my neighbourhood and a few other people i know from the main city nearby got swindled and bought a lot of that weed. I remember feeling rather sorry for one of the guys. And i'm sorry for the 3 posts, it was unecessary.

I might as well add that it wasn't the sugar that made people ill, it was something else. But they spoke of various other stuff in the article, including sand. Aaaaanway.
Fly, you're alright.

good god, that kind of shit does not happen here. i've seen quite a lot of weed, many varieties and i've never seen any adulterated with those kinds of materials. i have a feeling that if you tried to pull this on someone here you would need to leave town. putting people in the hospital? you'd have to answer for that.
the worst i've seen is mexican weed tainted with petroleum (probably to mask the smell while smuggling).
although the internest is the bestworst place to get informationdisinformationmisinformation, i'd like to add that in moderation the good weed is relatively harmless. almost completely harmless if you eat it. you must heat/cook it with oils to eat it.
legalize it, tax it and put the money from taxes and the money that would have been spent on drug enforcement into free addiction treatment for the minority that develop a problem.

I have a funny relationship with my dealer. He is a true Rasta, doesn't eat meat or drink, quotes scripture and all that. Really cool guy with an awesome family. He and his girlfriend had another baby about a year ago. We have this thing where I sort him out with diapers and baby food and he sorts me with a bag whenever I need. It's worked quite well for the past year. I guess I'll continue to help him out even though I won't want ganja anymore.

good lord, that's some awful stuff with cutting the weed. waaaaaay back like six years ago in high school a couple friends of mine went snowboarding and smoked some stuff that made us feel all sorts of strange, but we just went into the lodge and hung out with our heads down for a couple hours.
but i couldn't imagine getting stuff like that now. i'm actually incredibly elitist about my weed, having lived in santa cruz for four years. when i go back to massachusetts the quality of the weed is shocking by comparison.
also, having a good relationship with your dealer is key. fortunately, mine is just a friend who has been growing for any number of years. i rarely "go see pick up a bag" and more often just go to hang out, have a few beers and have him smoke me out, then buy a 20-40 bag (half and eighth to an eighth oz for those curious) at the end of the evening. it's pretty fortunate, cuz i prolly wouldn't have hung out with the kid as often but we've become pretty good friends over the years.

what do you mean by relatively harmless? all this misinformation seems almost impossible to me, although brain research has exploded only in the last five years or so. i do enjoy, always did, but i'm feeling the limits. i think i'll investigate and eventually quit.

it's a large and complicated subject. but there has been intensive research into the effects long and short term for many years.
because of the nature of the internet, take this as my two cents, my personal assessment, my biased perspective.
people have been using cannabis for many many years. they use it because they enjoy it. it is generally not healthy to smoke anything. however, with moderate use, this isn't really a concern. chronic exposure to fine particulates from automobiles in an urban setting is, in my opinion, a bigger risk.
so what's moderate use? i'd say taking 1-5 tokes three or four days a week maximum. not smoking all day, and not just smoking and doing nothing. smoking and hanging with friends, playing music, going out, etc. as i said, you can eliminate the risks of smoking by eating it, but you've got to get your recipe right and it's more expensive.
should kids smoke the chronic? no, just as they should not be drinking alcohol. should you smoke every day? no, you probably shouldn't. should you smoke powerful weed? yes, because then you will inhale less smoke.
people want black and white answers on these issues, and to me this is a big grey area. if you spend the time, however, you will see that the research is not clear cut and does not point to certain harm from use. much of the research is politically motivated, and biased.
in 1987 a federal judge in the US reviewed all the available information on the costs of cannabis use to society. he wrote in his statement that cannabis should be decriminalized or legalized for personal use (in a nutshell). cannabis is still illegal for primarily political reasons. it's important to be aware of how much energy is spent just by the us government on suppressing research that shows minimal harm and promoting inflammatory research that supports their prohibition agenda.
you are responsible for your happiness and your choices. i think it's reasonable to let people decide for themselves whether or not to smo

haha.. of course i do, thanks for the response. think it's fair enough. my major doubt regarding smoking alot is related to the short term memory, we can laugh everytime about that but at some point, when you costantly force the brain to act in a certain way, i wonder if it get used and conforms to it even if you don't smoke. therefy you lose the ability to learn and stay focused. oh well

Watching QI. Apparently the word 'canvas' comes from the Greek word 'cannabis κάνναβις (kánnabis). Interesting (in a few ways).
