haha you cunt. Hanal is an incredible artist. However your
work has absolutely no originality and looks like it's been
made in minutes. Your photos are fairly shocking too, with
things left in the corners which shouldn't be there and
lines which are completely misaligned, resulting in
something that looks fairly shit.
You keep pretending you think your stuff is bad, but you
evidently don't as you linked your flickr page. Keep up the
name dropping!

lets put it this way, i can identify a piece made by hanal a
mile off, especially in his ink works. it is quite an
idiosyncratic style imo.

as i say, your work reminds me of the stuff i (and other
students) used to do in year 1 of design school. basically
the really quick, collage-style work which takes about 5
minutes to finish so you can quickly whore up your
development book and get easy grades.

do you have any examples of your typography? i'm not trying
to be on the attack, but if you make an initial first post
like that in a forum which has quite a few decent artists
and designers (many of which actually earn a living in this
field), then you're gonna need to justify your authority on
the subject.

My point exactly :) Take for example your promotion stuff.
Even though you're told vaguely what they want, I can tell
something is yours just by looking at it most of the time.
As you said, with Dave, I can recognise his stuff in an
instant. Even if graffiti isn't original, the way he does it
is. It's such a ridiculous thing to say that graff isn't
original. It's like saying that painting isn't original or
that photography isn't original. Well he didn't invent it..
so no I suppose it's not. But his style very much is.
Your attempts however are pretty much exactly the same as
any other design student.

i've seen work like this, the whole futuristic technical
font graffiti. you obviously don't look at much art or have
a wide palette of aesthetic appreciation. what i do is
minimalism and is not meant to be idiosyncratically original
at all. thanks for your completely uninformed critique
though.

haha fuck you! What do you know about how much art I look
at? I love a massive range of art, I just think yours is
shit. You're a pompous pretentious dick if you think that
the only people who are allowed to comment on art or have an
opinion about it are those who are experts in the field.
If you hadn't been such an utter cunt throughout this whole
thread I wouldn't have even made my opinion. You can't start
a thread by saying something as bold as that and not expect
to get negative feedback when you link us to your completely
mediochre art.
As for saying that you don't think of yourself as an artist
and you think your work is horrible.. what absolute
bollocks. If that was the case you certainly wouldn't be
showing it to people and be thinking of making a book.
You're doing nothing but compliment fishing; looking for
people to say "nooo your works amazing! Look at all the
great people you've worked with!" You're incredibly
transparent

not everyone is lying to you on the internet you dumb ass. i
am not saying my work is good, just because i've worked with
good artists in the past and i have publishers wanting to
publish my material doesn't mean i am going to change my
opinion about my work. and another thing, your opinion
doesn't fucking matter either. is it even a real opinion? i
don't think so. svalx is a dirty little liar from way back
when.

for compliments, you seem to have a distorted view of people

I've had a bountiful harvest of hair eggs this season. Me
and my girlfriend, who I molded from my feces, like to eat
these sprinkled on boogers. I don't know what tastes better,
my eye lash crust or my eye lash crust mites. I think I like
the latter while my tapeworm likes the former. May your

KLX, come on, your Art is decoration at best, at worst it
looks like your working your way through a sample set of
"grunge" custom brushes in Photoshop. All it fucking lacks
is the lens glare effect. It lacks any strength or
authority, nor is it fragile or delicate enough to be
considered art. It's fucking about with Photoshop, the fact
you paid for your copy doesn't automtically make you a
professional. And also in your collection, there are few
things as empty as abstract illustrations that accompany
nothing.

To launch an attack on the juvenile produced Aphex fan art
that's in the gallery, it's beyond criticism. What do you
expect from fan art? Leave the fan art to the professionals?
I think they're called portrait artists. There's some kitsch
value to fan art though, it's all good as they say,
unacceptably.

To go to the bother of uploading 100 lazy Photoshop
sessions, then slag off graffitti art as being "unoriginal".
Is calligraphy "unoriginal"? ... Hanal's work, particularly
the ink works, are instantly identifiable and are full of
invention and creativity. Sure it belongs to a style, as
does your "minimalism".

That said you're probably very young and who knows, in a
short few years you will become adept at producing high
quality Graphic Design. Arrogance is fine but pick better
targets for your derision than fan art produced by kids.
