The most recent things I did were these YAMAHA RY30 tracks
on the myspace. I made these when I was inbetween
working computers, and I guess it is kind of a similar idea
to the 8bit thing just using a vintage drum machine.

Before that was the Boy Not Melampo release on metanoia
which is outtakes from Pisgah that I wanted to do something
with and before that was Emma Cora.

The RY30 thing got me focused more on sequencing than I had
been, so with the stuff I am working on now I am trying to
make sure that my sequences are nice, complex and solid
before even moving to DSP, slicing, resampling etc. Before
I was in the bad habit of laying down some phrases really
quick then trying to produce them into something good.

so you put some effort into individual sequences then blend
them in a separate moment when you know you can concentrate
in sound manipulation, rather than composing sequences all
together?

but this is more on the subject.. i'd just like insight
about proper ways to do ambient soundscapes, everyone that
has posted some music in this thread can contribute.

oh ok. Well if you want to know about ambient you should
listen to people like Brian Eno talk about it.

Brian Eno described ambient music as being like a river. If
you sit and just watch a river it more or less stays the
same as one fluid constant, yet it is never the same river
twice. It is constantly in motion, constantly changing.

The best ambient music to me is like that. It is not just
wallpaper, it can be engaging and compelling, yet it is also
content to be in the background and blend with the room.
