as far as i know, the only time it would be 'trouble' is if it was being sold. they dont have an anti-taping policy so if someone recorded it and distributed it freely, it shouldnt be an issue

I don't think it'd get legal but whoever did it would be ostracized. I'm sure Autechre bring the same front of house engineer with them each time so he's a mate rather than recording stuff for 'props'. I was going to say more but I'm dying for a piss...

to be strictly accurate, the mm md and mpc were all in pattern mode (not song mode), thats why a lot of the g2/mpc parts layer differently against the mm/md parts from set to set, and its also the reason all patterns differ in the length they run. the sounds on the g2 are tweaked live as are most of the md and some (usually most) of the mm sounds.
there are a lot of similarities (habits form on tour, wanting to reproduce happy coincidences found in early sets, the early [eu] sets vary more than the later [usa] sets for this reason) so its an easy mistake to make. if you could be bothered to count the bars in each section from different sets (pretty boring task, granted) you would have realised this. if they were in song mode it would mean every section from every set would be exactly the same length, which theyre not.
tl/dr: the answer is in the recordings (pattern mode).

also fwiw i think the recording qual of the toronto isnt as good as the LA but that the toronto set is a little tighter/better. also the crowd in toronto were a lot less arsey.

Though in the Elektron gear you can hop in and out of song mode. They might have the list of patterns down in song mode, then switch to pattern mode to tweak. That would mean they don't get lost.

the best transition from the '08 tour was definitely the bit right before the last one, where it goes from that mars/spacestation hip hop shit and then that flute sounding thing comes in and the drums sound like your nerves being ripped out of your body

I talked to their soundguy on the Quari tour. He was with them every night and quite annoyed when I told him I had heard him (on recording) busting a person a couple nights before.
He knew of the 2005 Glasgow board after the fact and said there was no way it could ever happen again.
When asked why then didnt release a proper recording, he said they felt the disc material to be superior to the live set.
I say they must be getting senile as they get older, b/c all things Quaristice on disc is whack compared to the live joints.

there were two soundboards of untilted tour stuff, the second one being in holland i think? dont remember right now. but yeah if there were two and they didnt want any then they probably wont let it happen again
jules they did a lot more shows for the untilted tour, so there was more chances to get a recording, so more recordings. a lot were really bad though. my favorites are the chicago one and that dublin one
if there was a soundboard recorded of the quaristice tour it'd have popped up by now so best to just dive into what u got!!

elusive the best bit from 08 is the part right after that supa-fast jungled out shit... where it slows down that murky air comes in and that weird beat is just swung out. its the part right before that rappid thuddin-out track that precedes the IO thing.... OH MY FUCKING GOD that shit is ridiculous
