i like to argue that the subconscious is only a concept; its
an idea used to locate things which are hard to find, almost
like a closet.

if you watch the mind for long enough youll see that its
just one volume, its not compartmentalized.

also, what differentiaties us from animals is that we have
this capacity to understand and to know the mind.

animals will always be controlled by their cravings. we have
the opportunity to surpass our cravings and desires, and
realise a more profound happiness.

we can make that happiness, peace and freedom our
over-reaching desire.

well done........ if it only took a week to work things out
then you did really well.......... i'm still working on
forgiving acts from 5 or 10 years ago..... some of them my
own....... although, again, I feel I made a few steps in the
right direction recently.

Bold gold. You guys are bold. Bold because you talk about
things like "heart' and "want". Do you really "want"
anything but an invitation to the playboy mansion and a 20"
jumbo frank? That weiner is ungrillably large!?

is being said here.

if you look closely, you'll find there was nothing wrong
with this thread at all until barcode and you came in.

a more subtle approach by you might have been a better idea.

f course to understand your thoughts and behavioral patterns
is very useful, this is true intelligence. You do not need
to meditate to do this, just be alert and understand to the
best of your ability the effect your thoughts and words have
on yourself and others. Why does any adult need a teacher to
teach them that? It's the simplest thing ever.

In the field of psychological thought nobody can teach you
anything you cannot learn yourself, you have exactly the
same tools as they do. You have the same manual, the brain.
This constant reaching out for others to help you is both
unnecessary and highly damaging to the human being, this
lack of self-responsibility has caused untold destruction.

I insist this meditation is completely bogus. Fooling
yourself into thinking you know more than somebody else
knows to make you feel more important or of higher value to
other human beings - if you're honest that's what it's all
about.

Sorry, but on this topic I don't see the necessity to wipe
your ass for you like a baby. Maybe you're frightened and
insecure about having your thoughts and preconceptions
challenged having investigated so much bogus faith in them.
Probably.

LOL.

Eggy lightness nonwithstanding, I think it's important to
know your own damn consciousness as well as the back of
one's hand before embarking upon a fruitless journey of
spiritual complacency. I'm about to start my own friggin
religion!

I also think that undermining laughter and humor is a
fucking SIN, so you folks that take yourselves to seriously,
sit on your little 120$ consciousness pillow and figure out
what really, REALLY has made you laugh in the past week.

thousands of years of practise says that meditation works.

in my own experience, it works.

'Fooling yourself into thinking you know more than somebody
else knows to make you feel more important or of higher
value to other human beings'

those are the very words of an ego roaming out of control.
how can you be so certain that you know best on this issue?

furthermore, the purpose of meditation is the opposite of an
'ego boost'; among the goals are to end judgment and to
deconstruct the ego - this is why we talk about non-self!

for my birthday, i'll give myself 10 days to a place where
to practice vipassana 12 hours a day. i'm self-taughting
meditation from some weeks but i think it needs some
guidance to get the best from it. it's not a religious
belief, it's a technique. it's not something that makes you
think you are better than someone else, but something that
makes you think you are no less than someone else. and of
course, regardless of the path that brings you there, being
humble is the key. even for those who don't know what they
are talking about.

wow i didn't realise there were so many ways to meditate,
but don't they all achieve the same result?

congrats darkpromenade. what a coincidence. i had a very
pure moment during my meditation for about 10 minutes
yesterday before sleep. instant acid action but not a
flashback. it was something that cant be described just like
that. flash of the beggining and the end of everything, with
some nice visuals behind the eyelids that lasted for like 15
sec and then the pure feeling of full awerness and
nothingness/fullness?. keep up with your exercises.
some bud worked as a catalist for me. but its not necesery.
just a method

nothing to go on really. like in other thread. the
neverending loop of the cycles. normal part of some level
gained in meditation i think. a basic thing in buddism.
