Yes, I was talking about chronic boredom, of course everyone occassionally gets an hour or two on a rainy afternoon where they flit between doing some work, reading, playing videogames, etc. and can't gain enjoyment from any of them. I meant the people who are bored with some sort of regularity. I also maintain that cliche or not, personally I have never met anyone I have found interesting who has claimed to be bored regularly.
Seriously, I don't get how people can be bored, I'm constantly scratching around for time to fit in everything I want to do and even then only get to do a fraction of it. I just don't understand how people can sit around going, "Meh, I'm bored" unless they are some sort of creature that has lived for several lifetimes and done everything to death, or are confined in some way that prevents them from doing anything interesting (IE locked up).

yes, but, how many people can truthfully say they'd be prepared to work out this equation in their head, while driving, in the +/- 3 seconds you've got when a deer darts out in front of the car?
The point is that I am very gullible. :D

I come here so much because xltronic has been in my portfolio as a potential investment opportunity for some time now, and have been negotiating business deals with phobiazero. I've seen the amazing things that have been possible with the current limited funding of donations and can only imagine the exponential marketshare takeover when those 260 extra pixels arrive in XLT v2. We expect big things in the future.. big, big things. No, I'm just lying/lieing/ling.

It takes 5,000 masturbations to no longer qualify as a virgin so you are right. I've been sequentially listening to all those talks and have 5 left. Its like being lazy and listening to books on tape. And with free hands you can eat black beans while you listen which is what I just did. They are a protein rich substitute for meat, but I don't think the singularity artilects will pay me the same respect. What would be cool is if the machines ended up being fueled on human farts as their food, so they round up people in farms and refer to them as 'production units' instead of humans like we do to cows and feed us weird engineered food and manipulate our genes with artificial selection to maximize our farting. Or in my case they just get the same results without even tampering with me. They'll probably just clone me into a strain of super farting humans, killing everyone else. I will be 'fit', but I learned that in the end it is best to die out instead of being fit.

"...speeds in modern computer chips are currently at around 2GHz – a ten millionfold difference – and still increasing exponentially. At the very least it should be physically possible to achieve a million-to-one speedup in thinking, at which rate a subjective year would pass in 31 physical seconds. At this rate the entire subjective timespan from Socrates in ancient Greece to modern-day humanity would pass in under twenty-two hours."
Yeah, but "thinking" about what?

Dunno, it could result in a depressed super intelligent system just stuck on earth, or in the solar system, with no purpose or desire to think about anything. Evolved intelligence only came about because it made genes or perhaps memes more successful at replicating. And maybe there's no real 'reason' to have intelligence if it doesn't fuel an underlying replication process. Maybe memes or information somehow replaces genes thus providing an underlying replicating core to make them evolve or even want to think about stuff. Maybe evolution as we know it is primitive compared to the next complex phase of whatever happens. One stupid idea is maybe the universe is the body of a giant alien being and life is like a pathogen on one of its cells, earth. Right now we're too small to be detected but after we build AI's and they infect a few solar systems, suddenly we appear on the radar of the univere's immune defense system and giant white blood cells start attacking the ais and infected planets. Yeah that seems like a pretty reasonable scenario so is probably what will happen.

Well Ceriquey, I'm bored at the moment because my flatmates are all tired and don't fancy going out. We were going to go out but then they either fell asleep or wanted to fall asleep. By the time they woke up from their nap it was too late to go to the pub and not enough people were up for going to a club or something. It's one of those awkward times when you want to do something but it's too late to really.
I think I'm going to go to bed and watch some nathan barley aaaaaahhhhhhh

One of my multiple personalities came out one day and encrypted myself, so I have no access to internal information. I'll look in a mirror... I don't seem to be wearing glasses. I'm not sure what tall is relatively speaking since I have no memory of other humans to compare to. I only have access to short term memory so will forget this stuff pretty soon.

"This is either an extraordinary case of maternal instinct or simply the eighth wonder of the world,"
yeah compassion for others beyond close family and friends on this planet sure is a freqing wonder. the reason we (except the extream rich) are all heading toward the mass extinction by the end of this century.
we can teach compassion in schools ...nooooo...but what if there is a war?? no we must contiune to allow bulling and fkd up tv and adverts and marvel at these rare cases of compassion like it is something untouchable in day to day life.
