you guys better enjoy that gig ...... i defo cannot go and
have been getting my live braindance fix from downloads...
afx - Primavera, aFX - Japan, Rokslide etc.... thanks Jand!
I wonder will Aphex Twin be Electro, Drukqs-based, DJ a la
Jungle, ambent, sandpaper, or just good old braindance
heavy........

Global Goon wasn't there!

Grant DJ-ed first, very hip-hoppy set, but great none the
less. Gave him a CD of tracks I'd done and he gave me the
thumbs up and said "Thanks!".
Took about 30 photos, had a very quick chat to Aphex with
whom I got a photo taken. He was dead friendly an obviously
enjoying the atmosphere in the club.
Astrobotnia was great and Cylob as well. Bogdan was totally
mental, making really funny faces while playing his choons.

gotta have a bath now, I'll post some more when i get out.

this may relax you Sepix:

THREE people FILMED Aphex's whole set, so there is bound to
be a bootleg on the net shortly.

Btw if I hadn't lost the MiniDisc it wouldn't have made much
of a difference. The fucking thing stopped recording after
15 minutes and kept turning off saying "Low battery"
although I had been charging it all day, peace of shit.

Hey Patrik........... was RDJ DJ'ing or was he live?
Was it electro, braindance, gabba, jungle , ambient or what?
Any stand out tunes? Anyone play a Squarepusher tune?

offline patrik from Keele (United Kingdom) on 2002-12-13 06:10 [#00479688]
Points: 1448 Status: Regular

I hardly recognized any tunes all evening.
·Grant played hip-hoppy stuff (phunqie called it MTV
hip-hop)
·Cylob played hardcore braindance, didn't recognize
Cylob/Kinesthesia stuff. He was wearing that Aphex face
T-shirt.
·Astrobotnia didn't play any Astrobotnia even though I
asked him to and he said "Yeah!". I asked what he used and
he said "Logic Audio."
·K-Rock and Global Goon weren't there, Grant just DJed
longer at the beginning.
·Bogdan played the only tracks of the night I recognized,
and was going mental to his tracks.
·Aphex (or Richy as it stated on the playlist) played the
meanest drum'n'bass from his VAIO laptop. No idea what the
tracks were, some sounded like they could have been Aphex.
All very well-produced sounding tracks and VERY
dancefloor-friendly. With every next track he mixed in he
took it up a level. Magic! I NEED THIS SET!!! Didn't play
any Aphex, Squarepusher or Snares but what he did play was
so mental and out there and accessible (!!!)
·I was woken up at 3am (I'd had loads to drink and had
nodded off) by someone saying "patrick, patrick". I didn't
know what was going on, it was korben dallas who phunqie and
I had been looking for all over at 10pm. Thanks for waking
me up man!! Your sister was very nice too. (PLEASE don't
take that last sentence the wrong way).
·DJ Scud was last on and his stuff was a bit too
breakcore-y for my liking. Aphex was bobbing his head like
crazy along to it though.
Q: Does Richard's girlfriend have superlong blond dreads?
She seemed to be talking to him all evening.

Apart from me losing my MiniDisc it WAS the best
day/night/concert/happening of my life. Absolutely
fan-fucking-tastic!

the webmaster at
http://www.dancecube.de/, Germany's largest techno forum was
there too and said there's going to be pics on the site
tomorrow!

http://www.dancecube.de/forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=ge
t_topic&f=1&t=006382

He said Squarepusher was there. I saw the guy he meant,
totally incognito. He was wearing a fisherhat and massive
wraparound specs.

Fun fact: I asked Richard if he was playing up or downstairs
and he said: "Dunno, both probably. Depends on how stoned I
get."

Another fun fact: Cylob doesn't dance, he bobs up and down
with his head leaning back.

(while bogdan was setting up his gear sounded very aphexy).

also, astrobotnia played some track of his .. (only a little
clip of it i thunk) .. mmhh..

rdjs mixing was well stand out for me .. no itunes
fuck-offery tall.
