i didnt see anyone overtly hating on the 2nd disc, just some
valid criticisms

i like to tell haters to shove it though, so i'm pretending
there are haters

there were a lot of haters for the first disc, not sure what
happened to them though

They probably can't make up their minds. I sometimes love
the first disc like it's a dead rat smeared childboy in my
arms, and sometimes hate it like it was a not good cd of
music.

lol.

At the moment I've listened more to Disc 1 than Disc 2. Disc
1 will probably for listens where I haven't got much time
(i.e. now) then Disc 2 will go on in the car, for example.

In spite of what I said, I am actually finding myself
listening to second disc a lot more, to be honest. I just
prefer the longer versions of tracks 2 - 5 and Fol 4. And
there's no bloody Bncy Bouncy Castle - I hate that stupid
track.

In spite of what I said, I am actually finding myself
listening to second disc a lot more. If you forget the
original Quaristice (by means of excessive alcohol
consumption), it's actually a very nice album on its own
merits.

I'm sorry, ok?

Hmm, I think I prefer Disc 1 after a solid day of listening
to them both, but fairplay, some of those versions of disc 2
should be on disc 1, it doesn't make sense.

why isnt anybody talking about making a custom Quaristice? i
personally think this is the best way to listen to it. Yes
its nice to listen to 20 tracks in a short hour long period,
but imo its even nicer to have a 1 hour and 20 minute long
Quaristice , replacing some of the tracks with their longer
versions.

AE made some more dynamic changing sound design intensive
experimental stuff like this again, the H30 collabs just
aren't doing it for me at all. they do not hold a candle to

hehe. I wasn't able to get to Elektro after the gig. I had
to embark on a bussiness trip around Silesia with my former
Icelandic boss the next morning.
Anyway, i bent a corner of one of the paper cases already. I
think I subconsciously wanted to do it to prevent myself
from selling it in the future to feed the kids.

went. erm, well just about. Yes.

3 years in the making:

2005 Glasgow Soundboard > Quaristice Limited Edition >
Quaristice.

Live and studio dont mix. They need either / or.

offline gl0tch from www.gl0tch.com     on 2008-03-11 15:29 [#02184306]
Points: 2708 Status: Lurker

New plan (if three years is their new thing)

- One year writing a new studio album.

- One year touring for said album. New live material,
continuous jam-style.

- One year off (but release a board recording of a studio
jam session of the live material from the previous year).

Repeat.

offline gl0tch from www.gl0tch.com     on 2008-03-11 15:36 [#02184312]
Points: 2708 Status: Lurker

OR

Instead of going on tour this time around, Quaristice should
have been one song long consisting of the material from this
live tour (assumming its all brand new material and
assumming that wont just show up on the next album.)

Then, instead of touring, they work on a new studio album.

On/off, on/off, and so on, and so on.

(unfortunately touring is where the money is at)

offline jules from United States on 2008-03-11 17:54 [#02184352]

but if the 2008 tour is better than the 2005 tour, then the
steps they made to go from untilted to the untilited tour to
quaristice was worth it. And if they are satisfied with
their own progression, than thats all that really counts.

I find it amusing at your expense, that, even though you
know what Autechre should and shouldn't do, you are going to
pay your dollars to see them.

"I'm looking to blur the lines between process
and composition, but want to def. make more beat oriented /
organic
sounding / generative-like tracks ala AE (and their now
infamous EP7
"liccflii" max-patch, but with better sounds)"

I find it amusing at your expense, that, even though you
want to come across as knowing everything and having
everyone like you, at the end of the day you find yourself
lost and without direction, unable to formulate your own
thoughts, and needing google to help you complete your
ideas.

They probably just want a break from that kind of writing.
Linear writing with very few loops, complex events changes,
tons of resampling/processing, staring at one grid that is
as long as the song = rewarding but tedious.

Half-improvised jamming on patterns you didn't spend weeks
on, using knobs and effects in real-time, tweak as you go
performances = a more laid back/fun process.
