im still confused, when did everybody decide to jump on the
band wagon and get all these simpsons themed avatars? 2
years after the southpark band wagon jump this happens.

while you guys are throwing up in here from all the

tour topic.

just got back home. Great festival, but the sun was deadly.
Me and my friend had just had it this morning after we
dragged our stuff to the car. So i missed the thermals,
merzbow, dj shadow and amon tobin (only a dj set at a shit
stage anyway), but its good to be back home, because i stink
and i was dying for a clean toilet.

Met up with Padraid and Sam which was incredibly cool. Top
blokes. Didn't get a chance to say bye to them, but they
should be at the festivall still.

Highlights: Luke Vibert playing a superb set of
electro/hiphop/jungle/idm/godknowswhatelse. Crowd went mad.

Autechre were fantastic once again. Sounded like the
previous Untilted sets, but as others have noted, more
refined sounding and perhaps including some new material.
couldn't say for sure.

I'd had enough after vibert and ae, which was when vsnares
came on. Listened to him from outside the tent which was
alright.

Walls of Jericho were also amazing and i'm REALLY hoping for
some video material of this performance.

Anyone know what happened to cuntychuck? Has he been online?
and QRDL?

You neglected to mention the opportunity to speak
progressively louder and more irrately in English, in a
strong regional accent, that other British people would
struggle to comprehend, at an increasingly confused and
scared foreign waiter/member of hotel staff.

Well, my story is short and to the pointless.
I drove 1250km on Wednesday to get to Dour at 2:30am.
I slept in the car and in the morning I noticed that the
horrendous diarrhea that had been haunting me since the meal
I ate in a genuine-communinst-80's restaurant in Czech
Republic 1 week before was not going to leave me and was
rather going to get worse in the festival conditions. I was
really afraid that it was something serious. Not eating
anything since Tuesday didn't solve the problem. So I sold
my ticket and left to Eindhoven to get some weed (very hard
to obtain in my city since The Great Crackdown) and then
headed home. I was planning on going to a doctor ASAP, but
in an ironic twist somewhere in Germany it started getting
better and better and I'm almost fine at the moment.
I hope all of you had a lot of fun and that someone went to
see von Schirach's show.

BTW, are the conditions like the ones in Dour normal for big
festivals? To me ot looked like a lot of people neglected a
lot of things.

that is messed up. good to know you're ok now though.
Hopefully you made a profit on the ticket to compensate your
fuel costs :/

what conditions are you referring to? i dont think i get
what you mean.

I would have to sell it for 200€ to be even and that I
didn't manage to do, but it was an enjoyable trip
nonetheless. Driving is a great pleasure for me mainly
because of the fact that I will probably not get my licence
prolonged in 2011.

About the conditions. It seemed to me that the festival site
was suitable for 15000 guests the most, not 44000. Did they
make the campsite and the parking space bigger on Thursday.
I met a couple of people who were really upset with the
organisation.

god damnit i just typed a reply and the connection timed out
and fucked it all up.

summary:

-it was insanely crowded
-it took us about an hour and a half carrying a shiteload of
stuff before we realized there were no 'legal' places to
pitch the tent anymore
-after the 1st night we came back to find our tents uprooted
and thrown to the side because they were outside the lines
and some vehicle had to pass through
- at times it was simply too crowded to really enjoy
concerts and dancing was pretty much impossible.

Parking hasnt been a problem for us though.

Yea, it looked like it was going to be extremely crowded,
that's why I don't regret my decision.

It seemed very strange to me that the organisers kept
letting people at the camp-site on Thursday even though it
was full the day before. Same thing with the parking lot. It
was almost full around 11am (or it seemed so to me) and yet
they were happy with collecting 6€ for the next 2
hours until I left. Thankfully there was this other parking
space not so far away.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I was really surprised by the
happy-go-lucky organisation.

But if the music experience was good enough to let everybody
forget about the discomfort, I rest my case.

i dont see myself as a loser for making people go to a great
festival with great music no.

ah well, i think i could do without your company tho, you
don't seem like a person i would want to meet.

the wednesday was mayhem trying to get in, ended up getting
split with my partner when getting the bus at saint-ghislain
and had to meet up at the site. getting the tickets was
another ordeal since it was near impossible to move in the
entrance area. but it was forced to open early so i can
understand why it was so chaotic.

but that aside, and after sleeping on the nearest green
patch in the camping area that night it was excellent for
the rest of the whole festival. meeting up with sam and
jeroen was indeed a great laugh, just bummed that i didn't
get too see the others.

music wise it was amazing, great selections of different
genres and styles. saw all of what i wanted to see and the
rest.

will post the link to the photos and vidias i took whenever
i sort through them
