i think this whole thing can be settled thus:

music has qualities (as in characteristics). people's taste
is subjective, so therefore the list of qualities that make
up good music for one person is bound to be different to the
next person's list. even if the music listener is unaware of
the qualities which define their idea of 'good music', they
still subconsciously evaluate a music's worth based on this
criteria.

so, really, this is a pointless debate, and a better
thread-starter (in my opinion) would've been:

what do you look for in music? what makes certain music
'good' to you?

good music is only good in context, it's what enjoyable in
an specific aestetic.

yes yes. the quality that i perceive in music that affects
me particularly strongly i call "inevitability."

ptiatil cx htdui, for example, sounds inevitable.

bit of a conversation killer, really...

the only poor music is poorly made music.

that said, if the artist in question is more about their
image then their sound, then one should seriously consider
why they are listening to the music....

for the image or the sound?
