Doesn't go anywhere? I've heard that complaint about alot of
AE's work. Especially EP7. What's the destination your
seeking? You know, I think people love and hate AE for the
exact same reasons... Someone should start a new topic about
it.

I think the argument could be made that SOME of Autechre's
tracks lack significant evolution, but not Uviol. What about
the crazy computer sputtering that comes in at the halfway
point and takes over the entire track?

For a looooooooooong time, LP5 was my favourite Autechre
album. But tonight I got pretty baked, turned out all the
lights, and stuck on Confield in its entireity at quite a
loud volume.

It was the first time that I'd listened to the album in that
environment.

Cut to the chase I guess; I have a new favourite Autechre
album :P

This album is a complete tedium, music for dry scientists,
about as exciting as examining a chart of a cone velocity
field.

i hate this album.

two stoned guys tweaking randomly arpeggiatored granulizers
and playing nonsense melodies...

i thought for a long time - fuck - so many people say this
album rocks - okay, i'm stupid and i don't understand
idm...

now i just can say that this album has nothing to give for
me... only autechre i cannot listen to

"only autechre i cannot listen to" interesting

try to listen to it after some time

this album IS already a classic. lentic is the track after
which ae and all electronica may just stop, break, collapse
- whatever.
and pen expers [...]

it...a ctually I more than like it

ha... i tried it four times the last year...
once alone one the bearch, once at home, once on a boat in
egipt, and another one at home... and i still get to the 4
track and no further...

It did take a while for me to get into it. Not because I
thought it was too abstract, just because it did nothing for
me. Around the time I realised focusing on the beats in
Cfern sent my brain wrong, I developed a real soft spot the
album.

i never listen to it, but i like it a lot! better than
draft 7.30, too. probably cause it came first though.

I don't think that there is any album I own that makes me as
excited as Confield.

It is absolutely fucking phenomenal in my opinion.

I love leaving autechre albums on repeat for when I go to
sleep. (Especially if you've been up all night - just buy a
couple of litres of dirty, dirty white cider and pass out to
autechre (or vladislav delay)) When I start going into that
zone - you know between being awake and asleep when your
thoughts start going on auto pilot and become more vivid and
extravagant - those tunes start manipulating some fucked up
experiences.

(God, I sound a bit like a hippy).

Yeah I used to do that with Tri Repetae a lot. Now it's
usually Confield.

Listenning to the first track (I forget its name) just going
aaah, that's nice (and quite trippy)

then Cfern comes on and it's like YEEEEEAAAAAAAHH

then Pen Expers: YYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

etc.

Surprised I get much sleep actually

COnfield is/was a very good record. Mechanical sounds never
had such an emotional impact on me. I prefered it over
DRAFT7.3 !

find "Confield" most delightful; it's a seizure without all
