well, I didn't have the feeling they tried everything - fearful because they probably still had to govern with themn for the next 4 years.

groove. might be correct, maybe not. I have other opinions. But independece/freedom is something I believe in... it's really important, but it does not exist in the world we live in.
Depence can be found everywhere, and more people (aswell as animals) are bound then free =(((

believing in freedom would certainly make you a libertarian, but the whole labelling of beliefs isn't my thing either. And i just can't align myself with any political party, it feels so *dirty*.

the problem is not a matter of left vs right political viewpoints. both left and right are capable of indulging in:
believing that their political perspective is the measure of truth.
attempting to resolve their own self esteem problems by identifying themselves with a political agenda that is "right" or "true."
falling back on personal attacks and insults instead of choosing to be civil (even in the face of incivility).
failing to seek a non-confrontational dialog which doesn't depend on senseless violence or destruction to make a point.
blindly identifying with the "team" that seems to be "winning" (wealth, success, political power and influence, social acceptance).
blindly identifying with the "team" that seems to represent the underdog that has been unfairly disempowered by the powerful status quo.
failing to realize the essential validity of each individual, and to know that we all are derived from the same source, and to accept and apply the implications of this knowledge.

Capitalism betrays a lack of human evolution, as does consumerism. It preys on the basest animal instincts, it reveals the grossest acts of egoism and selfishness.
True story - there was a town in mexico - during some conflict, the town was cut off from the rest of the Mexican Economy - gradually, the people becamse much nicer people, more peaceful with each other - money was useless there. An air of true socialism pervaded, drug and alcohol addiction dwindled to virtually zero, as did the local crime rate. As soon as communications were restored with the rest of Mexico, the corruption returned, the crime rate restored itself, as did the drug addiction rate, and normal Western commerce was resumed. Pooh pooh it if you like, but it happened.

i must say that i like my religion and organization tends to promote unity and friendship (no need to discuss counter arguments to this, they're well documented and understood).. i also don't agree that complete disengagement from government regulation is the most viable and humanistic option.. ideally, though not in practice, government breaks up monopolies and busts corruption.. as far as race purification, i know you're kidding!

I answered truthfully. Here are my "scores". (NB I do agree a bit with promo's point on the loaded language and that it seemed slightly in favour of the left)
Economic Left/Right: 0.62 Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.90
Do I look like such a tory monster now?
At the end of the day, my politics influence how I vote on a given issue and use a small portion of my disposable income. That's all. I don't let politics dictate which art I like, who my friends are, who I talk to, what I read, etc. the way some people do, almost using being "left" or "right" as some sort of modern day replacement for religion.
I'm unemployed at the moment (albeit living off savings) and chose to leave employment. For a few months it is only likely that I will find low paid work. Do I suddenly think low paid workers should have to pay no tax? Do I now think I should be eligible to claim jobseekers allowance? Nope!

i dig that
i answerred the questions thoughtfully, took the implications to mind, as a result there were only a few strong answers from me cause i had a lot of 'what ifs' in mind
nifty how john howard is placed on that graph ey? the author is making a subtle point. in recent news howard has opposed gay/lesbian marriages, days after the vatican has. it quite a base indicator of his character. not that im picking faults. i disagree with That issue, but i voted for him :)

well as i described radio is an ethical way of sharing music - also it's tagible - a radio plays a piece then another oe and the artist gets paid by te prs for the time it was played on the radio.
the same goes for borrowing a record - you may have the intention to give it back to the person who paid for it.
responswibility is important and I do see your point - some people do behave like this but most don't .
the other issue is of course price fixing on cd's which is out of orer - the high prices, import cd's within europe and to america being classed as "luxury goods"
major labels giving only 10% to the artist (unlike most independents) - but consumers and the record labels ned tro try and negotiate their practices else it's a loose loose situation.
did you know that the ringtones market is bigger than the singles market according to music week a few weeks ago - what a terrible dumbing down eh?
