well i've listened to your track sadist and i think it is
excellent. i don't want to say too much because i don't
want to give anything away before the project is finished.
i WILL say however, that all the tracks so far have been
very good. this project is really coming together and i
think it will be a really good listen when it is finished.

yo,
i was gone all weekend hiking in the wenatchee area in the
washington national forests.

qrter and ambsace,
drop me an e-mail with an update on your progress if you get
a chance.

qrter, when you are done, we should try to contact korben
dallas though i have not heard from him directly in a while.

ambsace, when you are done, you can hand your stuff to
sanguine.

To everyone involved/interested in this project!! please
read!!

my plan at this point is to let the current list of people
finish their tracks and then get all final versions of the
tracks into me. hopefully this will happen within the next
month. I know this is taking a while but i hope that is
indicative of the high quality of tracks so far.

when i have all the tracks together, i am going to add up
total time lengths and THEN i will start assigning
open slots based on who contacted me first and how much time
is left to keep the project under 80min.

MANY PEOPLE WILL GET LEFT OUT. i'm telling you this now so
it is not a big shock if you don't get to play with us.

If there is enough interest, perhaps our benevolant
webmaster will authorize a sequal to this project. but,
alas, that is out of my hands.

it will be finished... eventually. i would estimate this
will happen within the next 3 months but we'll see how it
goes. quality takes time.

but it's sounding good so far.. it's gonna be worth the
wait.

well still keen as, and i think this is a really good idea
and more should be done in the future anyhows, so hopefully
there is enough interest.

well. after my computer died, it's gonna take me a bit
before i can be fully up and running again. i'll hafta go
and download all my stuff again, etc. i managed to save the
important stuff...but man. this blows.

i've got about half a track aside from that, though. i'm
still not too pleased with it, and i'll probably end up
scrapping it and starting all over. =*[ BUT THIS WILL
HAPPEN. you'll see.

Ok judging by the fact that q and ambsace are working now
can i assume that it will go on in pairs?

If that is the case it's cool i'd just like to know.
: )

offline evolume from seattle (United States) on 2003-08-27 18:02 [#00839456]

well, you still need to work from a sample pack given to you
by the person before you or the project kinda loses some of
it's charm. but if the person before you has enough samples
ready to go, i guess it's not a problem. but these should
still be 'remixes' so lets keep that in mind.
remember, the original idea was that there would be some
flow between the tracks. some recognizable element. so
far, the tracks i have recieved have more or less stuck to
this principle.
but in the interest of time, i think it is a good idea if
people get started remixing as soon as is reasonable.

also, i suppose if you have alread submitted to me a
finished track, and you want to "buff it out" a bit, that's
cool too. just don't go overboard and write a whole new
track.

Idealy, you should get to hear the track by the
person before you and then actually remix it.

otherwise this project will just become a bunch of tracks
with no relation to eachother which was NOT the original
idea.

hmm. yes. that's a good point. perhaps i should wait to hear
mr. q's track, then, before continuing. which is actually
terribly convenient, anyways, seeing as how i still have to
gather up all my materials and such after the big hard drive
loss of 2003. bleah.

i didn't hear mr. xceque's track, and i'm almost done with
mine.. we both came to the conclusion that it wasn't really
necessary, cause it's kind of "telephone" like project..
uhh.. maybe we should all listen to the earlier track
beforehand.. maybe not..
hmm. how have the others who have already finished done it?

offline evolume from seattle (United States) on 2003-08-28 11:15 [#00840374]
Points: 10965 Status: Regular

well,
i think as long as you are using samples from his track (
hopefully a few of the samples are recognizable) then it's
no big deal. if you already have a nearly finished track,
you don't have to turn out a whole new one.

Ultimately, i don't want anyone to feel too restricted in
their creativity so do whatever you think is best and most
convenient while staying true to the project idea.

anyway, do what you gotta do. the ultimate goal is to have a
collection of songs that have some string of relation to
eachother.

yeah, that will definitely happen.. and in response to
Skink, ambsace and i aren't really going "in pairs".. i've
been pretty much done with my track for a while, but i'm
just trying to put on a few finishing touches to make it at
least decent.. hoho.. i just gave him some sample packs as i
was working, and i am still tweaking, and adding subtle
layers to my track.. but he's really got the all the samples
for the major elements of my track, but now as i finish, i
suppose i could send him my complete track and a few more
little samples and whatnot to help him out a little more
since his cpu crashed or whatever.. i think it would be a
good idea if people hear the songs that come before
there’s, but maybe after a bit of working on their part
first, as to not be influenced too much.. not that
anyone would consciously try copy anything from each
other....
but maybe it would help the diversity of the songs if they
weren't heard right
away, until later, so there could be little details put
so they'd flow nicely/crosfade into each other maybe, etc..
