Hi chaps
Does anyone know, are there any EXTERNAL audio interfaces around that power reasonably sized headphones? I bought a cheap behringer firewire thing a year or so ago (cheap but ultimately rubbish) and it really doesn't have any power on the headphone socket to power studio style phones - specifically AKG 240Ms.
Also has anyone got any specific recommendations about models? I REALLY need to upgrade.

oi will be quite difficult i guess. i would rather recommend a simple headphone amp on that you can also connect other gear not only your pc because i guess that a few others parts of your studio wont be able to power them also.
there is afaik a really cheap 4 channels heaphone amp made in the behringer mini-series. google for it.
but if you really want another interface than i would rather see which would interest you and download the manual of them where you can check how loud the heaphone out goes.
cheers

That is the worst advice I've ever read! Forget the crappy English and daft un informed speculations. Horrible!

Hey its not so bad! Thanks sadist. I take it that behringer amp is quite new, I remember searching around for a cheap one of those a while ago and I didn't catch that one. It certainly seems like a good option if I can't find an external box that has more power than most although its a shame that I'd have to add another cable to the works (trying to keep things minimal - I have a laptop setup).

Listen to Jivver, he's English plus he knows what he is talking about almost as well as I do, which is very well indeed thank you very much.

Actually he knows MORE than I do as I was going to recommend plugging your headphones directly into the live mains supply whilst standing in a bucket of water.

Good! I just got a new computer as a massive speaker dropped on my last one the other night. I was pissed out of my brains when I woke up feeling guilty but i hadn't done anything!

Good to hear, especially that you're still exercising your liver. It's nice to know some things never change.
