"He was beaten by guards for 30 minutes and made to inhale
ammonia in what they said was an attempt to revive him. He
died in hospital a day later."

They meant it good. It's the american way. If you can't even
beat troubled teens, then what can you do???

'beaten'

it all makes sense now

he died from losing the race

"I cannot see my son no more. Everybody see their family
members. It's wrong."

i'm so glad my country has such a strong grasp on a language
which we insist is our own.

if i assume that this individual represents the entire
country with their poor language skills, should i also
assume the country is so petty that it would choose to
highlight an individual's poor language skills rather than
express any sympathy for the shocking death of her child?

probably a combination of a dickhead unhealty kid, and
vengeful violent counselors who were attracted to a job
where they were encouraged to be 'tough' on the kids.

"But a medical examiner said the "forced inhalation" of
ammonia caused the teenager's vocal cords to spasm and block
his upper airways, and he died of suffocation."

even though it says

"The boy was beaten by guards for 30 minutes and made to
inhale ammonia in what they said was an attempt to revive
him."

BUT

"He died in hospital a day later."

how could he die from suffocation if it was a day later?
