Voice anonymising VSTs?

I involved a project that involves recording interviews,
but certain details, such as people's names, businesses,
etc. are going to be censored. This is easy enough, I just
silence out the offending parts. Something I'd like to do,
however, is alter the people being interviewed's voices so
that they sound different (and they cannot be identified by
their voices).

The ideal would be like the anonymisation you get on
radio/TV shows where the person's voice still sounds like a
person (IE not drenched in reverb/fx), just that they aren't
identifiable by them. Does anyone know of any (preferably
free) VSTs/programs that do this, or does anyone have a
suggestion of an fx chain that would achieve the same?

Thanks in advance.

pitching the voice in cooledit would do it quickly
and of course you could add or filter out bass and mids.

the effect list that might be useful aswell is
sheer endless in that program.
one would only have to alter most fx to be lighter.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

ijonspeeches: sorry I'm not sure I understand this,
"one would only have to alter most fx to be lighter." Do you
mean you would only have to apply the effects lightly to
achieve anonymity?

I have considered re-pitching, but one problem with that is
that it is easily reversible; IE someone could hear it had
been pitched up, then just slow it down to reverse the
effect. Perhaps used in conjunction with other effects it
would be useful though. Ta for the suggestions.

peter quistgard rocks my socks. would want to meet that
fella.

jion is right - pitch shifting and equalizing should do the
trick. you can eventually tryother effects such as noise
reduction which in some cases might do the trick too.

Do you mean that you want some equipment so that you can
ring up ladies and ask them what their knickers smell like,
without being identified as the lovely Ceri? :D hmmmm? I
think so.

ring modulation maybe?

or something like that antares voice synthesis plug-in, but
that might be a bit expensive for a one off :p

I actually just downloaded this AG or AV voice changer
thing. It's pretty funny, and you can easily get that
Shadowed figure talking in front of a window with the
curtains closed, I had sex with that person and he raped me,
20/20, dateline, entertainment tonight, effect.

what i meant was try some fx-filters and stuff,
but alter them so they dont have the full impact.
you still want it to sound human if i get it right.

but i tried some for 5 mins and im already disappointed.
wonder what those voice changing progs use...

The prog can do stupid stuff like BUMBLE BEE etc ... but you
can also get Ransom voice, and Protect me from the killer
voice.

Judging by this AV one it seems to be FX, just subtle
versions of them. The way it can change timbre is good.
